When I enrolled into Cosmetology back in 2002 at Francis Tuttle- Rockwell, it was a way to create income for my pregnant self and my 1 year old son at the time. I had no intention of staying in this career for so long. All I knew is that I was good at anything artsy. From drawing, to painting, clay sculpting even building wooden pieces, if I could dream it, most likely I could achieve it. I remember one day having to go to a party and my stylist-cousin Krishaun Unique Kuts Thomas couldn’t schedule me in so I did my hair myself. Back then the twisted front and rope coiled back was in style so I attempted it and boom there it is👏🏾, the assignment was complete but most importantly I got the approval of my stylist-cousin. I was in the game that’s when I decided to enroll into Cosmetology like she.

My instructor was so informative! She made me feel like I could do anything…. I needed her Spirit right then at that time🪴 Ms Von Hobart, little did she know 😇 planted a seed! I graduated while fully pregnant and wobbled my pregnant self across that stage with honor. My journey now begins… I’m off to fly solo.. Oh my😳 I’m seriously now a licensed professional embarking on a dream that is simply that, A DREAM🤯… Where to start? How do I start? School came easy to me but this? This right herrrrre, oh my!

The industry welcomed me with open arms… I learned more in depth styles and cuts. I even played in makeup (MAC Cosmetics) for a while… But I was getting older and I was craving purpose! It has to be more to life than waking up everyday, caring for kids and working like crazy, right?!

So back to school I go (Francis Tuttle- Reno). I decided to get my Master Instructors License of Cosmetology. I mean, I’ve been in the industry for forever seems like, might as well get my masters in it🤷🏽‍♀️

Going back to school sparked a new interest in me. Seeing all the young future professionals eager to learn. Full of ambition! I needed to be around that energy more. 🤔 I thought to myself, “hmmmm, what if I seriously considered teaching?” “What would my program look like?” There’s definitely a need for me here, so I began to think in that way. Teach in that way! Learn from that point of view!!! For the future young, vibrant professionals to be….. so without further ado, I introduce to you Ms Tanisha Mitchell aka “Ms T” the Master Instructor of Cosmetology who now holds the position:
