Skin Hydration Hints for the Winter Months
When tackling dry and cracked skin, should you reach for a lotion, cream, or oil? Let's break down the differences. Lotions are usually liquid and spread easily on the skin, but they are not usually as hydrating as oil or creams. Oils are more hydrating, but they should not be used on cracked oozing or infected areas because they are occlusive and can make an infection worse. Creams are more hydrating and disappear into the skin, as opposed to lotions. Look for products with dimethicone, which leave the skin feeling soft and are readily absorbed into the skin.
