I’m Maria, your Russian manicurist + MUA bestie and the owner of 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐍 | ELGIN BEAUTY SALON Beauty Salon in Elgin, IL 🌱✨

As I enter this new era of business ownership, motherhood, and coming back home to Elgin, I wanted to share a little more of the story behind the girlies, the nails, and the dream. 💭

Six years ago, in the middle of COVID, I started doing nails as a hobby to destress from working at a law office as a 20-year-old baby paralegal while attending college at night. As the oldest of four sisters, beauty has always been my safe haven. I never imagined it would become my career, let alone lead me here. 🪽

As an immigrant, I grew up believing education was one of the greatest opportunities I could give myself. After five long years, I graduated with degrees in Economics and Political Science, always thinking I needed a J.D. to fulfill my bigger mission: empowering women, advocating for our communities, and creating a brighter future through art, creativity, and culture. Somewhere along the way, I realized I could start doing all of that right here in the beauty industry. 🤍

Fun fact: I applied to ONE job after college, got turned down, and said, “Girllll, I already have a job!” 😂 One that could travel with me anywhere in the world. And that’s how California became home.

Fast-forward to today: I’m a mama to the sweetest baby girl, back in my hometown, and building something bigger than myself. Mariposa Garden is more than a salon; it’s a home for an incredibly talented team of artists, a space for women to grow, and a dream I’m so proud to bring to life. 🌸✨

We’re officially getting ready to grand open this November, and I would LOVE to celebrate this milestone with all the friends, family, and girlies who have supported me along the way. 🥹🫶
