We've Moved!
In Celtic mythology, the spring equinox—or Alban Eiler—was the day that night and day stood equal and the rare balance was seen as a powerful time for magic and nature.

As a lover of myth and legends, I wanted to share a dream seed that has been sprouting for me and for Ubuntu Hair Studio. As you may have heard, I have relocated to a private salon space located inside InStyle Salon suites in Encinitas, located between GoodOnYa (super yummy organic eatery), and Hanson’s Surfboards.

The new salon address is:
1053 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

Ubuntu Hair Studio is in Suite 4 and parking can most easily be found along Coast Highway. The phone number and email remains unchanged.

With the relocation, I have begun a deep dive into educating myself in the newest anti-aging rituals and techniques for hair, including studying trichology. Trichology is the science of the structure, function, and diseases of the human hair and scalp.

In modern society, trichology is perceived as the “bridge between cosmetology and dermatology'" and trichologists adapt a holistic approach to treatment, taking into account many different factors for each individual, such as lifestyle, diet and wellbeing, as well as the signs and symptoms present.

As I continue to expand my knowledge, I plan to curate specific products to support hair growth and scalp health. Product lines I am currently working include Milbon, Nutrafol, and Agent nature.

We have some exciting news to share. But first, we’d like to look back at what you’ve helped us build.

Over the past 11 1/2 years, together, we have created Ubuntu. We’ve learned and grown, contributing to the world around us, and to each other. We’ve developed a thriving community in our little corner of North County and now it’s time for the next phase. We are excited to announce that in the new year, Ubuntu Hair Studio will become Another Salon Studio.

The biggest wish one can have for the people under them is that they will one day surpass them, to explore and pursue their own dreams and vision. So it is with full hearts and great pride that we share Dawn is passing the torch to Vanessa to create Another Salon Studio. Life is ever-changing, and when we started, we didn’t really know where we would end up. But that’s the beauty of the journey, and our adaptability to this impermanence is what makes things possible.

But that is not all. As some of you may already know, Serena will also be pursuing her own independent dreams and vision. She will carry the foundation of Ubuntu with her as she begins her next adventure in a private suite of her own at InStyle Salons of Encinitas. We are forever grateful for Serena’s contribution and wish her great longevity and success in this new chapter.

Dawn will remain on as a part of Another Salon Studio and the salon itself will be getting a makeover, both inside and out, with a scheduled completion date sometime in the first quarter of the new year. Beginning November 1, 2019, we will temporarily operate out of Salon Republic in Del Mar Plaza. Salon Republic is located at 1555 Camino Del Mar in Del Mar, California, just a 6 minute drive south of our current location.

We appreciate all the love and loyalty you have shown us over the years and thank you for your continued support. We appreciate your patience through this transition and want you to know that things will be the same, but different. We assure you that we will do whatever is necessary to make this change as smooth and as graceful as possible. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
