Our very own Keefe Novoa, Stylist Extraordinare, playing some tasty guitar alongside his band at our Employee Holiday Party 🎉 - Stylist by day, Music Man by night! Amazing what can happen when you push away the salon chairs, turn down the ceiling lights, and voila! You have a stage!
What's amazing about this is photo is what we love so much about salon life - You can do hair half the time or less while also pursuing other parts of your life! Thank you Mr Keefe for those smooth sounds :)

MiladyPro According to Forbes, being a hairstylist is a the least stressful job of 2015. CareerCast publisher Tony Lee, says the reason is that, "hair stylists set their own schedules, enjoy a lot of positive feedback and they tend to make friends with their clients." This is a great, short read. Salons are competitive, but when someone displays this level of professionalism, it is a reminder that we are all united by our craft. Pleasing our clients makes us successful, but elevating our fellow stylists makes us exceptional. Bravo!
(TOO GOOD not to re-post!)
What would you do? A few years ago I had a walk-in with a really bad inverted bob she got from another stylist at another salon. The woman was crying and very upset. I calmed her down and happily fixed the cut. She is still my client. What I didn't do was bash the other stylist or salon. I did not say one word that was negative. After her service I explained to the lady that I not only felt bad she was given such a bad haircut but that I felt bad for the stylist who did not know how to deliver what she wanted. I asked if she would share the information so I could see if I could help. Later that night I found the girl on Facebook and messaged her. Asked her to call me. I explained the situation over the phone and the poor girl was in tears. She was not getting much support from her salon and was on the floor just three weeks out of school. Her and I made a plan. Twice a month she met me after hours or on Sundays For the three months. We worked on haircuts. She had friends and family come in and started perfecting what was trending and basic styles. I own a high end salon. This gal worked at salon where she wanted to stay for health insurance. She was in no way a competitor but even if she was I would have still reached out. Doing a redo for another salon can gain you a client for life. Helping another stylist perfect our craft is far more rewarding. Don't be afraid of the competition. You may end up helping out a future coworker or best friend!
Maybe you find it interesting enough to inspire others? I truly love our industry. My passion runs deep. I love your magazine. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all.
Love, Melissa Palmquist
