If your low back feels achy and compact, this is the technique for you. Using my foot to pull the fascia from the base of the ilium and sacrum all the way up to the scapulas effectively stretches and lengthens the spine. Recipients feel more space in their low backs and thus relief from that “stuck” or “condensed” feeling.

Most of us tend to neglect our lower bodies. When I ask people, “Where are you noticing points of tension/pain/restriction?”, the majority reach for their neck and shoulders. (Me, too. I totally get it). However, when I start poking around the lower half, many are surprised of how sore they feel. Don’t sleep on lower bodywork! Restrictions in the feet, legs, hips influence how we feel in our upper bodies; never mind how much we ask our lower bodies to do: walking, running, crouching, kneeling, even sitting stagnantly takes a toll. That’s why I love implementing work like this. My clients are pleasantly surprised of how “open” and “alive” their legs feel… and how that all translates up top, too. After all, it’s all connected 🕸️ 🤍

I was certain I wouldn’t use much of the neck techniques I learned in the Intermediate Barefoot Ashiatsu class, but that material ended up being what I use the most. 🦶 I thought it would be strange using feet on the neck, but when I received in class and felt how amazing and effective the work was, I knew I had to be more open minded. Like all Barefoot Ashiatsu, the technique is deep and even, successfully loosening up connective tissue and muscle layers beneath. It looks a little goofy but I swear it’s 🤌🏻💛
