Good morning! I have an opening next Thursday at 9am for color if anyone is looking to book! almost time to freshen up those highlights for spring or trim off those winter ends and start with a nice fresh cut. Color/cut/ blowdry starts at $60 partial highlights start at $75 and color plus partial highlights start at $85. I use Redken, Matrix and Pravana colors and lightners. Iam booking about 3 weeks out for a Saturday appointment so if you'd like to get in soon make your appointment today! :) see you soon!!

For all the people out there that don’t understand why you can't get a cool tone blonde going from dark brown to blonde here's the reason why.

Hair lightens in distinct stages as it goes from level 1 (black/dark brown) to level 10 (platinum blonde). Each stage represents the underlying pigments exposed as melanin is lifted from the hair.

The 10 Levels of Hair Lightening
Level 1-2 (Black/Dark Brown) – Hair is at its darkest with high amounts of eumelanin (black/brown pigment).
Level 3-4 (Dark Brown to Medium Brown) – The hair starts lifting, revealing warm red and red-orange tones.
Level 5 (Light Brown) – More red-orange pigment is exposed.
Level 6 (Dark Blonde) – The hair shifts to orange.
Level 7 (Medium Blonde) – The orange lightens into a brassy orange-gold.
Level 8 (Light Blonde) – The gold tone becomes more prominent.
Level 9 (Very Light Blonde) – The hair turns a pale yellow, similar to the inside of a banana peel.
Level 10 (Platinum Blonde) – The lightest stage, where hair appears pale yellow to white.

Why Does Hair Go Through These Stages?

Dark hair contains both eumelanin (brown/black pigment) and pheomelanin (red/yellow pigment).
When bleach removes eumelanin, pheomelanin is left behind, creating red, orange, and yellow tones.
To reach platinum, the hair must be lightened enough to remove all warmth, then toned to neutralize any remaining yellow.

How to Achieve Level 10 Safely

This a process that can take a while if you want the condition of your hair to be good.

Multiple Bleach Sessions – Done over time to avoid breakage.
Using a Bond-Builder (e.g., Olaplex) – To protect hair structure.
Deep Conditioning Between Sessions – To maintain moisture and elasticity.

Skipping steps or rushing the process can lead to overprocessed, brittle hair, so patience is key! You don't want this to be you!
