Dermaplaning is a safe and effective technique for manual exfoliation of the skin. This skin care treatment uses a surgical steel blade to safely remove the outermost layers of the dead skin cells and vellus hairs (peach fuzz) leaving the skin smooth, supple, and glowing.

Total Zen Turns 4! 🎂

I took my first clients June 13, 2022!
I wasn't ready. Wi-Fi was just installed that morning, I somehow forgot?? Sauna was delayed, the walls were bare bones, and my treatment room did not have light-blocking curtains. I jumped in any way! And so did my wonderful clients 💜 You said, "I'll be there!" to a one-woman show, a bare spa, through storms, early mornings, late nights and long weekends.
Every day felt like stepping into a dream, and it's only getting better.

9 month/36 week Bumpdate!

My goodness - I underestimated the 3rd trimester.
I managed to push through week 35 with clients and barely managed a few clients heading into week 36. Carpal tunnel with hand numbness starting at 7 months is not ideal for a massage therapist, with full on joint and hand pain to come. Inflammation to the point that my shoes haven't quite fit right as of 8 months. Sleep has been a thing of the past since day 1.
Having operating at 110% for the last 4 years since opening Total Zen, taking on employees, gaining my Esthetics license and now navigating my first pregnancy - I had no chill. Though spa life is very chill, owning and operating is not. Up until very recently, I dont think I knew how to rest. Up until recently, this type of exhaustion and body discomfort did not affect me unless I was pushing 3 weeks straight of work. Now, doing more than 2 hours of hands-on work or running a few errands will straight up take me OUT. Now, my hands and feet hurt before the day has even started.
Starting my maternity leave, I'm still trying to figure out balance. Slowing down, trying to rest more, preparing for a move in the last weeks before we're parents (yes, seriously 😂🫣), listening to my husband when he tells me to sit-down, making sure my clients are taken care of while I'm away, training/prepping the ladies (dermaplaning coming so super soon!!), my mile-long list of spa to-dos, and I still need to pack my hospital bag 🥴
We have a healthy, baby boy joining us very soon and that's all that really matters right now. Despite all the changes and discomfort, that very thought makes me smile 20 times a day. So blessed. So thankful.
I cannot wait 💜
