🚔 SBI Confirms Newton Grove NC Police Chief Has Been Booked in Major Case in Sampson County, NC

🗒️ The NC SBI has booked Greg Warren, the current Police Chief of Newton Grove, following an investigation requested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities confirmed Warren was cited in a multiple feI0ny case. He was processed at the Sampson County Detention Center and is expected to make his first appearance this week. The SBI states the investigation remains active and no additional public information is expected at this time.

📰 BACKSTORY:
Warren was appointed Newton Grove’s police chief in 2019 after the resignation of longtime chief Frankie Harrell. Harrell served 14 years in the role, then resigned after being booked in DV case on Nov. 28, 2018, by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

🏛️ Prior to becoming chief, Warren was a park ranger in High Point, NC. He is originally from the Newton Grove area and previously served as a police officer with Asheboro and as a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

✅ WHATS NEXT
The SBI will continue to lead this investigation in coordination with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the NC Department of Justice, and the NC Association of Chiefs of Police. Officials say the case remains active.
