People asks me all the time what Pslam 139:14 reads, and I always reply with the short version: “I am Fearfully and Wonderfully made.” After 2 years I had my first client ask me the WHY behind it. Things got real! Lol My answer:
I got pregnant in my junior year of high school and became a mother in my senior year. I was 17 years old. Up until that point I knew exactly who I was and what I was set out to do. I was a straight A student, I was a cheerleader, on the dance team, I knew what college I wanted to go to and what career I wanted to explore. April 15th, 2008 I found out I was 8 weeks pregnant and the whole vision changed.... I’m not even sure one existed anymore... Me.... Jasmine.... “Ms. Goody2Shoes” was pregnant..... I was confidently lost and the only thing I knew was that I had to keep going. I had to figure it out. So I did just that....
I enrolled in the Running Start program my senior year and took the 3 classes I needed to graduate. I finished my last final the day before I had my kiddo. At 6 months old he sat in the stands watching me get my high schools diploma. However, I couldn’t stop there. I knew I would not be another negative statistic. I would not fail my baby or myself. I was accepted into UW Bothell and started there the fall after graduating high school.
So Jas, what’s the big deal?! You held it together, you were doing your thing, you were good! Ha! Yeah no.... I felt like I was moving forward, but staying so still.... I cried a lot. I prayed a lot. I didn’t know who I was or what it is I wanted to do anymore. The whole vision I had for my life got turned upside, and I was just going through the motions trying to rediscover who I was. It was hard... The hardest transitional moment of my life. Until one day I decided... I’m going to do what makes me happy. I’m going to be successful because that’s who you are Jas.... You are strong. You are relentless. You are smart. You are a fighter. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully made... Now 8 years later as a business owner, I still keep myself encouraged with that and it’s something I want all my Prestige Beauties to know and feel within themselves. ❤️
