****PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY****
To ensure the safety of our youth and the well being of the entire community, The City of Flint Police Department is issuing a reminder regarding the emergency curfew currently in effect for all individuals under the age of 17.
All minors under seventeen years of age are prohibited from loitering, idling, congregating, or being present on any public street, highway, park, or public place from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM.
Minors are exempt from these restrictions only if they are accompanied by a parent, a legal guardian, or an individual over the age of 21 who has been delegated by the parent or guardian to accompany the minor.
We would like to emphasize that public safety is a shared responsibility. While the curfew aims to protect our youth, it also requires the active cooperation of parents and guardians.
Please be advised that any parent or guardian who is notified that their minor child has been apprehended for a curfew violation of the Flint City Code, and subsequently fails or refuses to collect the minor, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Furthermore, parents or guardians of repeat offenders may face additional consequences and penalties. These measures are intended to encourage responsible supervision and prompt corrective action to protect minors and the community.
Safety is the foundation upon which a thriving community is built. We encourage neighbors to look out for one another and for parents to engage in open dialogues with their children about the importance of these safety measures. By working together, we can ensure that our city is a place where families feel secure and our youth can grow up in a peaceful, supportive environment.
We thank the community for their continued cooperation and commitment to making Flint a safer place for everyone.
