☀️ Things are heating up outside, and with the warmer weather comes one thing we all experience—sweat! 💦
While sweating is your body's natural way of cooling itself down, it also means you're losing important electrolytes, especially sodium. In fact, the average person loses about 1 gram of sodium per hour during sweaty activity, and some people can lose significantly more.
When sodium isn't replaced, you may start to notice symptoms like headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, dizziness, and brain fog. Here's why sodium matters:
✅ The more you sweat, the more sodium you lose.
Heat, humidity, and intense exercise can increase both sweat rate and sodium loss.
✅ Some people are naturally "saltier sweaters."
Genetics play a role, meaning some individuals lose significantly more sodium than others.
✅ Your body can adapt.
With regular training and heat exposure, your body becomes more efficient at conserving sodium—but you still lose some every time you sweat.
✅ Your diet influences sweat sodium levels.
Long-term eating habits can affect how much sodium you lose through sweat, though short-term changes have less impact.
🧂 The takeaway: Whether you're working out, spending time outdoors, tackling yard work, or enjoying summer activities, replacing the sodium you lose through sweat can help you stay hydrated, energized, and feeling your best.
💥 We carry a variety of LMNT electrolyte flavors right here in the clinic! Stop by and grab your favorite flavor to help support hydration all summer long. 💥

🏥 Planning for Surgery? Make Sure You're Asking the Right Questions.
Surgery is a big decision, and being informed before your procedure can help you feel more confident and prepared for the road ahead.
Before scheduling your surgery, consider asking your doctor:
✔️ How long is the expected recovery process?
✔️ What restrictions will I have after surgery?
✔️ When can I return to work, driving, exercise, or daily activities?
✔️ Will physical therapy be part of my recovery plan?
✔️ What should I expect during the first few weeks after surgery?
Understanding the answers to these questions can help you plan ahead and set realistic expectations for your recovery.
If physical therapy will be part of your post-surgical rehabilitation, don't wait until after your procedure to schedule your first appointment. Many clinics have wait times of 2–4 weeks for an initial evaluation, and having your therapy lined up ahead of time can help ensure a smoother transition into recovery.
If you have an upcoming surgery and know you'll need physical therapy afterward, give us a call today to get your appointment scheduled. 810.487.9733
The more prepared you are before surgery, the better positioned you'll be for a successful recovery. 💙
