If someone treats you badly, just remember… there is something wrong with them, not you.

Because normal, healthy, well-adjusted people do not wake up and choose cruelty. They don't look at someone and decide to tear them apart for no reason. They don't get satisfaction from hurting others. They don't manipulate, belittle, gaslight, or destroy people who did nothing but care about them. That behavior doesn't come from a place of normalcy. It comes from a place of something deeply broken that has nothing to do with you.

Think about how much time you've spent questioning yourself after being mistreated. Wondering what you did wrong. Replaying every conversation trying to figure out where you messed up. Convincing yourself that if you had just been different, better, quieter, easier — maybe they would have treated you with basic human decency. But here's the truth you need to hear — you could have been perfect and it wouldn't have changed a thing. Because their behavior was never a response to you. It was a reflection of them.

This is what people don't understand until they've been through it. When someone destroys you emotionally, psychologically, or in any other way — that says everything about their character and absolutely nothing about your worth. You didn't deserve it. You didn't cause it. And you definitely didn't do anything that justified being treated like you were disposable. That was all them. Every single bit of it.

So stop carrying blame that was never yours to carry.

Normal people don't destroy others. The fact that they did tells you exactly who the problem was all along.

You’re closer than you think.

You don’t need to fear how many times it takes.
