May is basically the start of “everyone’s going to see my skin again” season… and if you’re not feeling 100% confident, I get it.

Mother’s Day brunch. Graduation parties. Memorial Day weekend. Pool days. Beach trips. Sundresses coming out of hibernation...

This is when that soft, natural glow makes all the difference! I specialize in light, natural-looking tans - never orange, never streaky, never overdone. Just a subtle glow that makes you look refreshed, healthy, and put together.

A custom spray tan gives you that even, sun-kissed look without the damage - so you feel confident whether you’re in a dress, a swimsuit, or just your everyday clothes.

If your spray tan is fading patchy instead of smooth, there’s always a reason. The good news is, it’s usually easy to fix with the right prep and aftercare.

Your spray tan develops on the outermost layer of your skin, so anything that affects how that layer sheds will affect how your tan fades.

Here are the biggest causes of uneven fading:

🤎 Dry skin
Dry areas (hands, elbows, knees, ankles) shed faster, which leads to patchiness.
👉 Prevention: Moisturize daily with an oil-free lotion to keep your skin hydrated and your tan fading evenly.

🤎 Poor exfoliation before your tan
If your skin isn’t smooth to begin with, your tan won’t fade evenly.
👉 Prevention: Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment, focusing on rough areas.

🤎 Water + sweating too soon
Getting wet or sweaty before your first rinse can mess with how your tan develops.
👉 Prevention: Stay dry until your rinse time (I’ll guide you!).

🤎 The products you use after your tan
This is a BIG one. Harsh products can break down your tan unevenly.
❌ Body washes with sulfates
❌ Products with alcohol
❌ Oils
❌ Retinol, acne treatments, or acids
👉 Prevention: Use gentle, sulfate-free, oil-free products to protect your glow.

🤎 Chlorine & saltwater
Pools and the ocean can strip your tan faster in certain areas.
👉 Prevention: Limit exposure, rinse after swimming, and moisturize ASAP.

🤎 Friction on the skin
Tight clothes, bras, leggings, and constant rubbing can cause uneven fading.
👉 Prevention: Wear loose clothing after your tan and be mindful of high-friction areas.

🤎 Shaving incorrectly
Shaving acts as exfoliation and can remove your tan if done too soon or too aggressively.
👉 Prevention: Wait 24 hours and shave gently with an oil-free wash.

✨ The goal:
Your tan should fade evenly and naturally—never patchy or blotchy. When you prep right and use the right products, your glow will last longer and look better the whole time.

Don’t forget—I send all of these instructions after your appointment, and you can always find them in my highlights or on my website! 🤎
