Finishing out our month of introductions is Shannon!

I’m Shannon — better known as Shannon the Hair Witch. I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2016, but my journey began much earlier, experimenting with vintage hairstyles in my childhood bedroom and realizing that transformation was its own kind of magic.
I’m a Virgo sun, Scorpio moon, and Aries rising — equal parts detail-oriented, intuitive, and fiery. I specialize in communication and consultation, creating a space where clients feel truly seen and heard. My craft centers on identity-affirming styles, gray blending, fantasy colors, low-maintenance blonding, and major transformations — anything that helps someone see themselves more clearly when they look in the mirror.
When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll probably find me chasing live music, wandering through a renaissance festival in full costume, or sifting through thrift stores for forgotten treasures. Family is at the core of everything I do — I’m a proud mom to a bright, curious six-year-old who keeps life full of wonder, and an aunt who loves nothing more than a house full of laughter, cousins, and chaos. I split my time between here and New England, where salt air, old forests, and a slower pace always remind me to breathe, recharge, and find beauty in the in-between.

I’ve been a hairstylist for over 20 years, and I still absolutely love what I do. For me, great hair always starts with connection — genuine conversations, laughter, and helping people feel comfortable and confident in my chair.

I specialize in creating styles that fit seamlessly into real life. I love low-maintenance color, cuts that grow out beautifully, and finding looks that fit each person’s routine. My razor is my favorite tool, and I’ll always have a soft spot for bobs and pixies — but no matter who sits in my chair, I bring the same care and attention to every style.

I also offer hair extensions, which are such a fun way to change things up — and yes, I wear them myself!

When I’m not behind the chair, I’m usually spending time with family and friends, traveling, or out on an adventure with my dogs. I love walking them, exploring new places, and I’m currently training one in agility. In my spare time, you’ll also find me diving into all things fitness — it’s my favorite way to recharge and stay inspired.

Hey there, I’m Courtney! I’m the salon assistant here at Dahlia Noir. I started at the salon in April of last year and by the time fall hit, I had decided to take the big step to start my cosmetology apprenticeship! My mentor, Leigh, has been working hard to teach me the ways of the trade. She is always so supportive and patient with me, I’m so thankful to have her guiding me through this journey.

Outside of the salon I live a cozy, whimsical life with my partner, Sean and our loveable pup Niko. In my off time you might find me in the kitchen cooking up good food with Sean, galavanting around the renaissance festival with my friends, or busy crafting jewelry and chainmail for my side business! Hi, I’m Leigh, co-owner of Dahlia Noir Salon and a specialist in all things hair and hair extensions. I spend my days with my clients and mentoring our apprentice, Courtney—it’s rewarding to support the industry, especially since I started my career as an apprentice myself.
My husband and I have a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Ruby, who keeps us on our toes. When I have free time, I enjoy relaxing at home — wearing cozy clothes, ordering good food, and watching movies with my family. For me, a simple evening is the best kind of reset.
With more than 13 years in the industry, I’ve focused on perfecting my craft, sourcing the best hair, and helping my clients feel confident and beautiful. If statement-making blonde, seamless hair extensions, or custom-curated hair cuts are your thing, then I’ve got you!

Starting off our Dahlia Noir Reinteoductions is Amber!

Hey, I’m Amber — co-owner of Dahlia Noir Salon and curator of controlled chaos. I’m an Aries with a Ta**us moon and Virgo rising, which means I live in that sweet spot between fire and focus — grounded, but never dull.

I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2012, getting my start in high school by doing my friends’ hair in their basements. I originally thought I’d go to college for sociology because of my love for human connection and understanding, but hair became my way of exploring that same curiosity — helping people understand themselves through creative self-expression.

When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll probably find me with a book in one hand, a snack in the other, and chasing after my fiery 4-year-old. I’m a cautious adrenaline seeker — equal parts adventure and intention — and that energy shows up in my work.

Recently, my boyfriend and I bought his childhood home, and there’s something really special about breathing new life into a space that already holds so much history. It’s an honor to continue on his family’s legacy while creating our own — blending old memories with new ones, one project at a time.

I specialize in high-impact, low-maintenance color — bold tones, lived-in dimension, and effortless upkeep. My goal is to create hair that feels powerful but wearable, statement-making but still you.

Today marks 5 years of Dahlia Noir Salon!
When we embarked on this journey, no one could have predicted the road ahead. We’ve forged our path with intention, care, and a drive to create something Frederick needed- community over competition, and a space where creatives can work independently, yet collaboratively. Thank you to everyone who’s followed along on this ride with us, here’s to another five years, and all the years after!
