So Friday night we were back at Forest Home Cemetery to tour the Silent City. The veil thinned and our spirit guide was Mabel Rainey, the first African American women to graduate Marquette law school. First African American women to practice law in Wisconsin. We met many interesting spirits along the way. Dr Laura Wolcott, first women physician in Wisconsin. Even caught some resurrectionists at work. Below are the more commonly known. Captain Pabst and his monument. He spoke first, then Val Blatz, and Joseph Schlitz. And of course Byron Kilbourn. The video are spirit sticks to honor the Potowatami who originally lived here. And are still buried here.

Have never been satisfied with the exfoliating pads, and gloves I have tried. Usual tooooo rough. But think I have one that is close to perfect for me. And of course,on Amazon.
The product is FBasics,4 pack, exfoliating mitt by Hammas. Very well made, and use only with water. Just the right amount of roughness.
Exfoliating is good, but not too often. Especially we get older. I usually do a full body 1-2 times a month.
The mitt is not recommended for the face. So a nice homemade one is in order.
You’ll need:
2 T. Baking soda
1 T olive oil
1 T honey
Mix together, apply to face, let sit 5-10 minutes, rinse. Boom

Here are 3 healing homemade products you can make at home. From the Goodful site.

Need a beard oil? Well I personally do not ,but you may have someone in who does. here is a very simple recipie from mommypotamus.
You'll need:
2 T of a carrier oil. Jojoba, avocado, grapeseed, or argan oil
14 drops of an essential oil
30mlbottle with dropper. Preferably a dark colored bottle,brown.blue.green.

Scent combos
Woodsmen
7 drops patchouli,7 drops vetiver

Smooth and Mysterious
7 drops Frankincense,7 drops vanilla

Light and fresh
4 drops bergamot
7 drops lavender
6 drops vetiver

to use:
Usually in morning after shower. A dime sized amount should do the trick. Massage into beard, comb out and done. Will take about 1/2 hour to absorb.

And that is pretty much it.

So looking for a homemade fabric softener that works try this one from Debra Maslowski at DIY Natural
You'll need:
if you want to enhance tour body lotion, try applying aloe vera gel first. not the kind you find in drug store. Try Outpost Foods, or Fresh Time. Or any store that sells natural bases. it will be a watery gel consistency, and absorbs quickly. Works by hydrating your skin, much like drinking water hydrates you!!
1/2 gallon distilled or filtered water
1/4 cup 91% rubbing alcohol
50 drops essential oil of choice
2 T of Polysobate 80.
In this order mix vinegar ,alcohol mix well. Essential oil, mix, Polysorbate mix, then water. You should not see oil float to top if its well mixed. the Polysorbate helps with blending of oils and water. if you omit the Polysorbate, shake well before each use.
Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup per load. I'm sure you can find Polysorbate on Amazon, but I use WSP.com for majority of my ingredients

Hint for the day.

So it’s pretty durn hot. So I thought I would post some flavored water recipes from Refinery29.
#1
Minty cucumber lime
1/2 cucumber sliced
1/2 lime sliced
1/4 c fresh mint leaves

#2
Strawberry lemon with basil
1/2 c sliced strawberries
1/2 lemon sliced
1/4 c fresh basil leaves

#3
Watermelon mint
1 c cubed watermelon
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

#4
Pineapple orange with ginger
1/2 c cubed pineapple
1/2 orange sliced
1 T freshly ground ginger

Place desired fruits in a quart jar. Muddle with a wooden spoon, or muddled if you have one. Muddling is just mashing to help release the juices. Then fill with water. What I do is fill half with water, the rest with ice,and let sit overnight.
You can agave to make it a wee bit sweeter, or maybe a bit of seltzer water for some fizz.

OR
To start your day with a coffee protein smoothie from BOO.

2 cups ice
3/4 c almond milk
1 c cold coffee
1 frozen banana
1 scoop protein powder
Throw it all in a blender and blend.

So pace yourselves, stay hydrated. Check on the neighbors, especially the elderly,to make sure they are ok ❤️

So have to get those feets ready for summer. so here is an interesting foot soak from Brendid.com
2c Epsom salts
1/2c coarse sea salt
3T of Toms main body wash. the recipe specifically mentioned this body wash, but use what you want
1t sweet almond oil
optional 2-3 drops of essential oil

combine in large bowl. Mix well. use half cup in warm water bath. soak for 15 minutes. Softens skin to help with exfoliation.

Speaking of exfoliation, here is a simple scrub from domesticallyspeaking.com
21/2 c of sugar. bakers sugar is a finer grain, which I prefer.
1/4 c baby oil
1/4 c body wash. again combine and mix, give your feets a good scrub, then rinse. pat dry and rub in remaining oil
so now you deserve a treat. how about an iced coffee protein shake.
in blender add
2c ice
3/4 c almond milk
1 c cold coffee
1 frozen banana
1 scoop protein powder
Blend, pour, put those good looking feet up and chill. Enjoy!

Well that’s how I feel about this weather lately. Which brings to mind lotion bars. Here are 2 recipes that are easy

From enjoynaturalhealth.com
You’ll need:
1/3 c bees wax pellets
1/3 c unrefined Shea butter
1/3 c apricot oil
Place all ingredients in a double boiler and melt
Add 20-25 drops of essential oil
Pour preferably in silicone molds. Ones for making candies is best. Or small muffin molds work well too.
Frankincense is a good oil because of its healing properties. And as usual lavender is a good choice as well.

From a delightful home is another variation
You’ll need:
1/3 c of each
Beeswax
Coconut oil
Cocoa or Shea butter
Coconut oil is a little to greasy for me.
Once in the mold,it will harden in an hour, then just pop out. I store my little bars is a glass jar. And keep one in a small tin next to the bed,and in my purse.
Just a different way to make lotion. Enjoy!

Well these two recipes couldn’t be more diverse.
First up chocolate covered peanut clusters.
You’ll need:
24oz Dry roasted peanuts
4oz German chocolate
12 Oz semi sweet chocolate chips
20 white almond bark

Place all ingredients in crockpot in that order
And very important place a paper towel over it,then the lid.
Cook on low for 1 hour
Remove lid and towel, stir, replace towel and lid
Cook for another 15 minute.
Then drop by spoonful on parchment paper
It hardened for me in an hour
Just in time for Valentine’s Day

After shave lotion. It was listed as a men’s product but can be for the ladies too
You’ll need
2T aloe Vera gel
2 T witch hazel
1T distilled water
2t vegetable glycerine
About 5 drops of essential oil. Lavender would be a good choice
Store in a bottle of your choice, shake and rub in

Well we’ve had some beautiful sunsets lately. Bit the cold will soon be upset us. And speaking of colds. Some of you may remember your mom slathering Vick’s vapo rub on you when you had a bad cold. It worked but sooooooo greasy.
Here is a recipe for a non greasy version.
You’ll need:
1/4 c of room temp coconut oil
1/4 c of room temp Shea butter
25 drops of eucalyptus oil
15 drops of lavender oil
10 drops of lemon oil
5 drops tea tree oil
Blend all ingredients together, spoon into a container and boom done.
The scent will help with nasal congestion, and as it absorbs may help to loosen chest congestion too.

And to help your face fight dry winter skin, here is a simple face wash.
You’ll need:
2 T of face wash. I prefer Dr. Bronners baby Castile soap
2 T water
2 T glycerin
1/2 cup olive oil
Pour all in a foamer bottle, and boom. Done.
You certainly can scent it with an essential oil. Neroli, geranium, frankincense, and lavender are good choices. Use a bout 5 drops. You can also substitute rose water for the regular water.
