Oh the life of a hairstylist.

I tap first, then flick.

Tapping and flicking gives me complete control over where the bleach goes. Instead of dragging lightener down the hair, I’m pressing it directly into the new growth where it actually belongs.
When you swipe, it’s much easier to push bleach onto previously lightened hair, which can lead to:
• Breakage
• Banding
• Uneven lift
• Compromised ends
When I tap the bleach into the regrowth, I’m making sure every new hair is fully saturated from the start. I’m building a dense, even application exactly where I want it instead of accidentally moving product farther than intended.

Better saturation = more consistent lift.

Once the regrowth is completely saturated, I use a gentle flick to feather the bleach right up to the line of demarcation. I’m not dragging bleach onto old blonde I’m simply softening the edge of my application so I don’t leave a harsh line.
This is where I see a lot of stylists get nervous.
They’re so afraid of overlapping that they stop short of the line, leaving tiny shadows or bands that don’t fully lift because those hairs were never saturated in the first place.

Healthy platinum isn’t about stronger bleach. It’s about better technique.

The difference between a clean retouch and a corrective color appointment is often just a few millimeters of application.
