A month late but Aria Beauty Lounge turns 4!! I honestly never dreamed or desired to own a salon but where I wanted to work didn’t exist so I built it. It feels like this has been my salon home forever and at the same time seems like it was just yesterday I was scrambling to get a new ac unit and water heater the day before we opened. The stresses and challenges of a business will always be there but in these 4 years I’ve met the most amazing women and seen so much growth from both hairstylists and estheticians and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve never been happier to come to work or had a better group of people to be surrounded by. Shout out to .nelson_esthetician and for being with us since day one! Gina we miss you and I love all my Aria girlies!!💛

Posted • This post is for the au naturale women out there who aren’t currently coloring their hair.

Let’s talk the ugly reality of covering gray. If you’re starting to see silver strands that are driving you crazy just know that there is no quick fix, low maintenance way to cover those babies. Here are some things to consider when deciding to color.
1. TEXTURE - Gray hair will always be a different texture whether it’s colored or not.
2. COVERAGE - It’s impossible to pick out each strand of gray and color only those. Your natural color will also have color deposited which begs the question Demi or Permanent? With a demi deposit color you most likely will not get full gray coverage, only enough to soften or mute the Gray which will still be noticeable against your natural color. Permanent color can offer more Gray coverage but will also shift the color of your natural enhancing warmth and more noticeable regrowth.
3. HIGHLIGHTS - Highlighting can help camouflage but in order to really blend with the gray you have to add a significant amount of highlights creating more maintenance. Gray and blonde are also 2 different colors so you will still notice your gray as it grows in.
4. REGROWTH - With average growth of 1/2” a month that means you will see Gray regrowth in as little as 2 weeks (especially in areas that are more dense). That doesn’t mean the color didn’t hold or faded out, it just means you have new gray hair growing in and that’s the ugly reality.
Make sure to fully consult with your hairstylist about all of your options and what to expect before making a commitment to covering your Gray.
