Licensed Esthetician Helping You Heal Your Acne Naturally

07/25/2022

I want to invite all of my skincare loving friends to come check out my new IG account .rapids.glow! It’s a page that’s exclusively dedicated to my work as an esthetician.

Glamdelion isn’t going away. I just felt like I needed to take a break from this account for mental health reasons. Although my intentions have always been good, I started to notice that my addiction to this app was feeding the worst parts of myself. I want to use this platform to build community and share my passion for a healthy lifestyle with that community. Somewhere along the way my ego took over. It was almost as if my value was being reduced to these tiny little squares and amount of likes or lack there of. I felt like I was seeking validation from this made up meta universe and to no surprise instead of feeling whole I felt empty.

I’ve been putting in the work to improve my relationship with myself and others over these last few months.
Slowly but surely I’ve been shedding the layers of myself that don’t belong to me. That process has been messy, raw, and beautiful.

I’ve known for a while now that my life’s purpose is to inspire other people to live a healthier life. I’ve seen my passion for self love and wellness ripple out in my community in the past. That truly means so much to me. I just needed some time to focus on my own well being first.

As this new week begins, take some time to quiet your mind in stillness. Remind yourself that even when you get off track, you hold the power to bring yourself back into alignment. Shedding old patterns that don’t serve you anymore. Exhale negative thoughts, shame, anxiety, worry, resentment. Inhale abundance, love, expansion, and opportunity. You hold the key to your peace. You hold the power.

💓💓💓

Wherever I go, there I am. As people flow in and out of my life, places and situations change, I am constant.

My growth is solely up to me.

Sometimes life hits you so fast and so hard that it erases the sparkle in your eyes. Fighting that hopelessness can feel like trying to swim your way up from the bottom of the ocean. When the spirit is weak, a world of color appears black and white.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the “three treasures” refer to essential elements for sustaining human life.

Shen. Jing. Qi.
Spirit. Essence. Vitality.

Life took me down a pretty dark path recently and my shen, or my spirit was absolutely crushed. Valuing my health, and having been an advocate for a healthy lifestyle to anyone who knows me, to say this has been a difficult process is an understatement.

I have been on a healing journey, (which has never been linear btw). Right now it feels genuine to share some of the ways I have been nourishing my shen.

🎶Listening to music that helps me process my emotions.
🌿Spending time in nature.
👯‍♀️Reconnecting with loved ones.
🥗Eating colorful, home cooked meals.
🧠Educating myself about a topic I’m interested in, like shen.
✨Affirmations.
🌈Visualizations.
😮‍💨Focused breathing.
💯Having honest conversations with myself and others.

3) Melt the dark chocolate bar with a tbsp of coconut oil.

MY TOP SKIN HEALTH TIPS

⭐️Do no harm. 90% of the visible changes that occur in the skin as we age are caused by the suns UV rays. Once collagen breaks down, it is very difficult, expensive, and sometimes even painful to restore. Wear sun protection. Wear a hat. Wear sunglasses. Be proactive.

⭐️Purchase your makeup and skincare from companies who avoid using hormone disrupting chemicals, carcinogenic preservatives, and other toxins. I understand that some of these products can be pricier, so I recommend to start with switching out the products you slather all over, like moisturizer, foundation, body lotion, sunscreen, and deodorant.

⭐️Don’t over-exfoliate. You do not need to use a gritty exfoliator or acids every day. Our needs are not always going to be the same. Over-exfoliation causes our skin’s natural defense system to break down. This allows harmful substances to pass through the skin more easily, and it prevents loss of moisture. Learn how to exfoliate intuitively. Tap into how your skin is feeling day to day. Is it rough? Sensitive? Soft? Congested? Sun burnt? All things to keep in mind to avoid over-kill.

⭐️Increase your intake of dietary omega 3s. The standard American diet has the majority of people at a ratio of 16 times more omega 6 than omega 3. This imbalance is highly inflammatory to the body. Chronic inflammation not only puts our skin in a state of distress, but it’s also a huge threat to our overall health. Additionally, omega 3s provide internal hydration to our cells. These essential fatty acids provide a beautiful protective outer layer to our cells. Imagine the difference between a juicy grape and a raisin. We want those cells nice and juicy!

⭐️Nourish yourself from the inside out. There is a lot of nuance to this topic, but generally speaking you should prioritize eating a wholesome, balanced diet with a diversity of fruits, veggies, healthy fats and protein sources.

Many people never take the time to focus on what’s positive or possible and then they wonder why they’re so unhappy.

When we focus our energy on our growth, goals, dreams, gratitude… opportunities open up, life feels lighter, we overcome obstacles we didn’t know we could.

You hold the 🔑. Stay the course.
