This past year has been the hardest test I’ve ever taken. Opening a salon far before I ever felt prepared to, getting engaged and married in the matter of two months and then add a surprise pregnancy directly after that to top it off. I know that my attention toward my clientele has suffered. And if nothing else, I’ll always be brutally honest. It’s a massive struggle. Every last part has been difficult. I’ve never been good with change and I went through a ton of life altering stuff in the last 18 months. This post is to simply show some of my latest work and also, my gratitude for each one of you who has stuck with me, loved and supported me throughout everything. Creating beautiful hair brings a sort of peace to me that I cannot explain. I look forward to your future visits, new friends and old. -Kristyn

I’d like to formally invite you all to our grand opening… just six fashionably late months after we opened our doors. Come celebrate our salon with bubbles, bites, and all the funky, fresh energy our space is serving—better late than never!

I feel it’s time for a reintroduction having had so many major changes leading up to my tenth year in Grand Rapids. I’m Kristyn, the owner of .hair.collective . August will be my 14th year doing hair and I love it just as much today as I did when I began cosmetology school. It has been a fun journey getting to where I am in my career today. I thoroughly enjoy connecting with my guests and creating low maintenance color. In my free time, weight lifting is a priority to me. I believe that staying active and strong is immensely important for my mental and physical health. If my dog, Curtis doesn’t come up in conversation, something is off 😂. I am your quintessential millennial dog parent. I love to shop and I also enjoy a little bit of interior design. Mid century modern design and bright, funky items are a favorite. On the other hand, I have no issues setting aside my makeup and cute outfits to head into the woods and camp and I spend a lot of summer Saturdays floating down the river in my kayak with friends. While I love a good hike and a tent under the stars, I’ll never say no to a night out with great food and a game of darts.

I’m always accepting new clients and would love to make some new friends behind the chair!
