Tried & True Esthetics

And I wonder why my skin is so sensitive now... 🤔

It's been too long since I've given an Esti update. So, here it is!

[EDIT: This turned out to be not so much an update as it is a personal story but. It's a good start!]

💆🏼‍♀️I get asked often what made me want to pursue esthetics. It's not the most simple answer and I usually just end up attributing it to my love of skincare and making people feel beautiful.

The long version of the story starts with an 18yr old me coming to terms with the consequences of my actions. While at Kent State pursuing fashion design, the combination of making bad social decisions and struggling with hard classes sunk my GPA past repair. I had to leave.

👚I flailed for a bit. I worked various customer service jobs at clothing stores and restaurants. I even considered a different college major and took some classes at Tri-C. I didn't have enthusiasm for any of it.

It was really good luck and the keen eye of my mom that brought me to the cosmetic field. I'd always loved playing with makeup and while my mom would often suggest a career in cosmetology, I was Not into hair. The most I ever did at that time was straighten my own hair pencil straight. The idea of being creative with hair simply didn't interest me.

💄One day I came home from work to find a newspaper clipping on my vanity. It was about a course in esthetics. My mom had came across it and thought it might peak my interest. It did! It involved learning makeup artistry, waxing, and all things related to skin. I was sold.

The course took 13 months and I Loved what I had learned. I received my course certificate and passed the State Board exam easily. In the span of the 11 years I've been licensed(😭), I've gotten to experience multiple facets of the industry.

I've never been one to think that you should have to suffer for a job. No amount of money is worth being in a constant state of stress, anxiety, or unhappiness.

So, it's with heart full of gratitude that I look back on my professional journey. I'm so thankful to be doing something that I truly enjoy. Life can be so beautifully unpredictable. I continue to learn and grow and it means a lot to know I have your support.💕
