There are moments during this collection when I have to stop painting and simply take it all in.
When I first imagined Under the Brim, I thought I was creating a series of portraits.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I was painting stories.
Stories about identity.
Stories about womanhood.
Stories about legacy.
Stories about the things we carry that the world doesn’t always see.
This collection has become so much bigger than I ever imagined, and I truly cannot wait to share it with you this October.
Every canvas has stretched me—not just as an artist, but as a woman.
Thank you for taking this journey with me. Your encouragement has meant more than you know.
💛 One more thing…
I’m looking for a vintage hatbox to include as part of the exhibition experience. If you have one (or know someone who does) that you’d be willing to lend or sell, please leave a comment below or send me a message!

Tonight feels a little special.
I created Kintsugi in 2023, and tonight she’ll be part of Summer in Bloom, continuing a journey that’s taken her far beyond my studio.
One of the things I love most about creating is realizing that a painting’s story doesn’t end when I sign my name. Sometimes it continues through exhibitions, conversations, and the people who spend time standing in front of it.
I’m honored to have Kintsugi included alongside the work of so many talented artists, and I’m looking forward to an evening of art, connection, and community.
If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you.

If you stop by, please come say hello. I’d love to meet you.
Every now and then, I realize there are quite a few new faces here, so I thought I’d properly introduce myself.
Hi, I’m NiSi. 👋🏽
Most people discover me through a painting, but my creative journey has never been limited to one medium.
I’m a visual artist, poet, and the creator of The Listening Canvas, an experience where music, reflection, and painting come together in community.
Whether I’m standing in front of a canvas, behind a microphone, or welcoming people into a creative space, my goal is always the same:
To create work that helps people feel seen.
I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope you’ll stick around for the journey. There’s a lot happening over the next few months, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
