Two weeks ago I packed up my salon station and went home to be a stay at home mom. It’s the best decision for my family at this time and it makes the most sense.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported me over the years. Clients, coworkers, salon owners, friends, family, educators, reps, - everyone in the industry who helped me. Without y’all I would have never become the hairstylist that I am. Ten years flew by. I was 17 years old when I started my journey and had no clue what this career had in store for me.

For me it was always so much more than the hair. This business gave me a sense of belonging I never knew before. All my life I wandered around looking for my place in this world and I’m so glad that I found it behind a salon chair. God wanted me to use my works to reach people for Him. I turned years of pain into purpose and my creativity into art.

I cherish each of my clients and consider so many of you my friends now. After all, how can you spend hours at a time with someone over the course of years and NOT build a bond with them?

This isn’t goodbye, I’m not walking away from hair forever. This is just a season of focusing on my home life and my family. I feel as though I cannot give my all to my job while having small children, and babies don’t keep. They’re not a distraction but rather the most important work to me. I’m sure many can understand that. If not then I hope someday that you can.

Perhaps I’ll find myself in a different area of the industry. Whatever that is. I’m not sure yet. Maybe I’ll offer freelance services for weddings and events. Maybe I’ll use my experience and get into education. Maybe I’ll take my knowledge and get into sales. Who knows. I’d love to get back behind the chair again someday once my kids are older and in school. Guess we will see what God has in store for me.
