Another Saturday that did not disappoint. 🌿

A guy walked in rubbing his face and asked if I had an emollient to get some bumps off his skin. I smiled and said that is a question for a dermatologist but I can absolutely help you hydrate. He said noooo, did the full hand wave to match, and literally backed out of the tent. I loved that exchange more than he will ever know.

A couple walked in, looked at the Full Service containers, she looked at him, grimaced and shook her head without saying a single word, and they walked right back out. I cannot stop thinking about it.

So many people who bought mini body butters came back for the full size this weekend. They said they had scraped out every last bit they could find. This melts my heart 💕

A man came in asking what we would suggest for someone who had admittedly been neglecting his skin. Easy, Full Service cream. But then came the real debate. Fragrance Free Body Butter or Menthol Body Butter? Matt and I went back and forth for an embarrassingly long time and never landed on an answer. The guy finally said "can I just buy one of each?" It had not crossed either of our minds. We are idiots. 🤦‍♀️

It was also a very big dog weekend at the market. I am a sucker for a dog in a stroller and Matt is a sucker for a baby cocker spaniel in a baby sling.

Edmond Farmer's Market

Saturday at the Edmond Farmer's Market, two women from the OKC Festival of the Arts stopped at my booth.

“Your husband told us you used to volunteer,” one said.

“Yes,” I told her. “But I retired myself.”

She laughed “You’re too young to retire… look at us!”

And then I said something out loud for the very first time. “I had to stop giving my time to others so I could take care of myself.”

I felt that through my entire body💔

For almost two decades the OKC Festival of the Arts was part of my life in some way or another. Grabbing drinks after a shift from Bricktown Brewery. Selling chicken brochettes at The Mantle booth. Pouring beer at the drink tents. Eventually co-chairing. Festival week was something I genuinely loved. And I still walked away.

Not because I stopped loving it but because I didn’t have it in me anymore.

I quit everything. Social media. Volunteering. Working. Living in the suburbs. I changed a lot to become the person I am now…someone who pays attention to every detail of how she feels.

Frena wasn’t born from having it all together. It was born from finally choosing myself. I’ve been there. Hating my skin. Blaming my skin. Giving up on my skin.

You’re allowed to stop something. You’re allowed to slow down. You’re allowed to change your mind.

You’re allowed to take up space in your own life. That’s what Frena is for 💕❤️
