Well… I got eyelid ptosis. 👀

These photos show the progression over the past few weeks.

At first, I thought it was pink eye or allergies. Turns out, it was eyelid ptosis—a temporary drooping of the upper eyelid caused by the muscle that lifts it not working as well.

As an injector, I think it’s important to be transparent because this is a known—but uncommon—potential side effect of Botox. It can happen, even in the best and most experienced hands.

The ironic part? In all my years of injecting, I’d never actually seen true eyelid ptosis in real life. If someone was going to experience it, I’m glad it was me and not one of my patients. As frustrating as it was, it gave me firsthand insight into what it feels like, how it progresses, and how reassuring it is to know it’s temporary.

And that’s the good news. It’s temporary. I used Upneeq eye drops, which helped lift my eyelid while I waited for the Botox to wear off.

Complications are rare, but they’re part of informed consent. My job isn’t just to create great results—it’s also to educate, recognize complications, and know how to manage them.

Transparency matters, and I think it’s important to show the real side of aesthetics, too. 🤍
