Heidi Mayes// California Hair Extensions pushed me to challenge myself and enter the behindthechair.com HAIR AWARDS this year. and i went into this as a way to challenge my skills, not only in creating cool hair, but in taking the time to photograph that hair.
creating every entry was so much fun, the entire experience was worth the extra hours in the salon and the extra time planning.
but…..getting a nomination wasn’t really in my plan or my vision board, especially not in a haircut category.
crazy what the universe will gift you when you put yourself out there, even if you’re putting yourself out there just for sh*ts and giggles.
i’m beyond stoked on this! thank you to anyone that encouraged me, and everyone that modeled for me through this process!🫶🏻

my seeet client had grown out her natural for over 8 months, but wanted to go pink. instead of exposing all the warmth through her ends that have black color on them, we settled on ghost roots! she’ll continue to grow out her hair, trim off the dark, and hopefully be solid pink sooner rather than later!🫶🏻
