Where Hair Meets Happy

Your smoothing cream can seriously make or break a blowout and yet it’s one of those steps a lot of people skip or just grab whatever’s on sale. So I put together my top picks depending on your hair type and what you’re working with.
Mint Tools Hydrating Smoothing Cream is a great all-around option. It’s lightweight, adds moisture without weighing your hair down, and has heat protection built in which means one less product to apply before you dry.
Amika Supernova is a moisture and shine cream, so if your hair tends to be dry or frizzy and you want that silky, glossy finish, this one delivers. It’s also a great option for color-treated hair that needs a little extra love.
Brazilian Blowout Daily Smoothing Serum is the one I reach for when someone wants serious frizz control and a sleek result. It’s a leave-in serum, so it also helps with detangling before you even pick up the blow dryer a bonus if your hair is thick or prone to knots.
IGK Good Behavior is the one for you if frizz is your biggest complaint. The spirulina protein formula gives you that keratin-like smoothness with 72 hours of frizz control and heat protection up to 400°F, so it’s doing a lot of heavy lifting in one product.
Save this for your next wash day!

Not all hair care is created equal, and finding the right products can feel overwhelming especially when every brand claims to be the best thing for your hair.
So I did the work for you. Swipe through to see the product categories I actually recommend to my clients, broken down by what they do and who they’re for.
Save this one, you’ll want to come back to it next time you’re due for a refresh. 🔖
Clarifying Shampoos
Think of a clarifying shampoo as a reset button for your hair. Over time, product buildup, hard water, and even your regular shampoo can leave a residue that weighs your hair down and dulls your color. A clarifying shampoo cuts through all of that.
You don’t need it every wash; once or twice a month is usually enough to keep your hair feeling clean and your color looking fresh.
Purple/Blue Shampoo
If you’re blonde, this one’s for you. Purple and blue shampoos work by neutralizing the warm, brassy tones that naturally show up as your color fades. Purple targets yellow tones, blue targets orange; so which one you need depends on your hair.
The key is not overdoing it. A little goes a long way, and leaving it on too long can actually shift your hair gray or purple. When in doubt, ask me what’s right for yours.
Mask/Conditioner
A good mask or conditioner is one of the easiest ways to improve the health and feel of your hair at home. The difference? Conditioners are for everyday moisture and detangling, while masks go deeper and are meant to be used once a week or so.
If your hair is color-treated, fine, or on the drier side, this step is non-negotiable.
Color Safe Hydrating Shampoo
Your everyday shampoo matters more than most people think. If you have color-treated hair and you’re not using a color-safe formula, you’re basically fast-tracking your color to fade.
A good hydrating shampoo keeps your hair moisturized without stripping your color, and it’s the foundation everything else builds on.

You could go to any hairstylist for a service… or you could go to one that educates you along the way. 🤍
At BFH, every appointment comes with more than just great hair. It comes with the knowledge to maintain it, understand it, and actually love it between visits. Because when you know better, you do better and your hair shows it.
That’s the difference a boutique experience makes.

Kaitlyn came in for a full custom blonde mega and blowout and we went all out for summer.
We prepped her hair with a K18 mist before ever touching a foil, then worked through a full highlight to really saturate her with brightness and dimension. After rinsing we hit it with purple shampoo to knock out any unwanted warmth, followed by Amika’s Kure mask to deeply condition and detangle before toning.
Her final tone was a custom Matrix blend // cool, creamy, and exactly what summer blonde should look like.
The goal right now is full, bright, and fresh for the warmer months. As it grows out we’ll transition her into a more lived-in blonde so the grow out is effortless and beautiful, not something she has to stress about. I love when a color journey has a vision behind it.
She left the chair feeling like herself, just elevated. That’s always the goal.

The reason your hair still feels dirty after washing may have nothing to do with your products it’s your process.
Most people shampoo once, rinse, and call it a day. But one shampoo only loosens buildup, sweat, and product. It doesn’t fully remove it. That’s exactly what your second shampoo is for, and skipping it is the reason so many people deal with that “dirty hair smell” or feel like they have to wash their hair every single day just to feel clean.
The fix is simpler than you think swipe through to see the exact steps I walk every single client through.
Part 2 coming soon with the products that make this routine even better.

Most people own a heat protectant. Very few people know there are actually two kinds and that you need both.
Wet heat protectant is your pre blow-dry primer. Just like you wouldn’t apply a full face of makeup without primer, you shouldn’t apply heat without it first. Hot air from your blow dryer can burn your hair just as much as a flat iron can, and since wet hair is the most breakage-prone, this step protects against both heat AND tension breakage from brushing and combing.
Once your hair is dry, you’re still not done. A dry heat protectant shields your strands from hot tools, blocks humidity, and even protects against UV damage so your style actually lasts.
Two different products. Two different jobs. Both non-negotiable.

If your blonde fades uneven… this is why 👇🏼
Izzy’s ends were holding onto old, faded blonde while her fresh lift was sitting brighter // which can leave you with uneven tone and limited options when it comes to toning.
So instead of toning everything down to match, we corrected it.
First, I did a bleach wash on her ends // mixing lightener with a gentle, bond-building shampoo (I use The Kure by Amika). This gently lifts the old blonde just enough to match her fresh lift, so we’re not forced to go darker when we tone.
Because of that, she gets:
• A brighter overall result
• More flexibility with toner
• Even tone from root to end
Then we added a Scandinavian hairline at the bowl applying lightener just around the hairline after foils.
This gives that bright, seamless “blonde-from-the-scalp” look (especially when hair is pulled back) without over-processing the rest of the hair.
Not everyone is a candidate for this, I typically stay within a level 8+ natural base to avoid warmth at the hairline.
For my stylists:
Toner – Shades EQ
25g 10T + 15g 10VV + 10g 10P + 5g 10NW
Sometimes the goal isn’t going lighter it’s making everything match so the blonde actually looks intentional ✨
