Meet Dwon Clifton | Heights Wellness Retreat Holly Springs Ambassador

Some people inspire through words. Dwon Clifton inspires through the way he leads.

A North Carolina basketball standout, Dwon was one of the nation's most sought-after high school recruits, earning consensus Top 100 national recruit recognition before signing with Clemson University.

At Clemson, Dwon immediately made an impact, starting 17 games as a freshman and becoming one of only two Tigers to appear in every game that season. His collegiate journey also tested his resilience after overcoming a serious heart diagnosis that temporarily threatened his basketball career—a challenge he met with remarkable faith, determination, and perseverance.

Following Clemson, Dwon completed his collegiate career at UNC Greensboro before playing professionally in Portugal, where he averaged 22 points per game and later led the league in steals during his second professional season.

His passion for developing others naturally led him into coaching. After mentoring elite youth talent through Five-Star Basketball Camp and the nationally recognized D-One Sports program, Dwon joined Scott Drew's Baylor University basketball staff, serving as Director of Player Development before being promoted to Coordinator of Basketball Operations.

Today, Dwon continues to shape the next generation as Director of Athletics at New Garden Friends School, where he is known for developing not only outstanding athletes, but exceptional young men and women of character. His influence reaches far beyond wins and losses—it's about leadership, purpose, discipline, and serving others.
