Some things aren’t meant to be kept — they’re meant to be witnessed.
Not everything beautiful is for taking.
Some things bloom just to remind you what ʻāina looks like when it’s loved.

Lauhala on the Met steps.
They banned our language. Outlawed our hula. Stole our Queen.
But they could never erase the hands that weave.
We don’t ask for a seat at the table. We bring the whole ʻulana.
This is what happens when you let the host culture in the building.

Took my ancestors to the Met Gala. My kupuna wove fish traps, fans, and freedom.
Tonight, I wove myself into rooms they said Hawaiians didn’t belong.
From Honolulu to New York — we are still here. We are still weaving.
