Ever wonder what makes handcrafted soap different? It often comes down to the ingredients. Unlike many commercial "body bars" that rely on synthetic detergents, harsh chemicals, and artificial fragrances, handcrafted soaps are typically made with natural oils, butters, and botanicals. This means you're cleansing your skin with ingredients that are often gentler, more nourishing, and better for the environment.

What the heck is glycerine anyway?
Glycerin is a natural humectant, drawing moisture into the skin to keep it hydrated and supple. Retaining glycerin in skincare products helps maintain skin moisture levels, preventing dryness and promoting softness. Its ability to attract and lock in moisture makes it vital for maintaining healthy, radiant skin.
Doc T's handcrafted cold-process soap offers natural ingredients, nourishing oils, and glycerin retention for moisturized skin. Unlike commercial soaps, it lacks harsh chemicals and detergents, preserving skin's pH balance. Each bar is unique, crafted with care and creativity, promoting sustainability and supporting local artisans. Experience the purity and luxury of handmade soap today. www.doctsoap.com

As a dermatologist, I see firsthand the effects that different types of soaps can have on the skin. Commercial soaps are often harsh and can strip away the skin's natural oils, leaving it dry, irritated, and more susceptible to damage. Handcrafted soaps, on the other hand, are made with natural ingredients that are gentle on the skin. They also tend to be more moisturizing, which can help to keep the skin hydrated and healthy.
Here are some of the benefits of using handcrafted soap:
Gentle on the skin: Handcrafted soaps are made with natural ingredients that are gentle on the skin. They do not contain harsh chemicals or detergents that can strip away the skin's natural oils.
Moisturizing: Handcrafted soaps often contain moisturizing ingredients, such as shea butter, cocoa butter, or aloe vera. These ingredients can help to keep the skin hydrated and prevent it from drying out.
Hypoallergenic: Handcrafted soaps are often hypoallergenic, meaning that they are less likely to cause allergic reactions. This is important for people with sensitive skin.
Fragrance-free: Many handcrafted soaps are fragrance-free, which is ideal for people with sensitive skin or allergies.
Environmentally friendly: Handcrafted soaps are often made with biodegradable ingredients, which means that they will not harm the environment.
If you are looking for a soap that is gentle on your skin and good for the environment, then handcrafted soap is a great option. There are many different types of handcrafted soaps available, so you can find one that is right for your skin type and needs.
Here are some tips for choosing the right handcrafted soap:
Consider your skin type: If you have sensitive skin, look for a soap that is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.
Read the ingredients: Make sure that the soap contains natural ingredients that are good for your skin. Avoid soaps that contain harsh chemicals or detergents.
Test the soap before you buy it: If possible, try the soap on a small area of your skin before you buy it to make sure that it does not cause any irritation.
By following these tips, you can choose a handcrafted soap that is gentle on your skin and good for the environment.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and just like any other organ in your body, if you don’t take care of it, it can cause problems. Many skin care companies create skin cleaning products that aren’t really soap at all. To save money, they use cheap detergents and surfactants (chemicals used to break the surface tension of water) that are found in laundry and dish soap. It’s because these companies use detergents that they can’t legally call their products “soap.” They use clever names like “Body Bar,” “Body Wash” and “Cleansing Bar.” Glycerin is a very effective, very expensive natural skin emollient (softener) that is a natural byproduct of the soap making process. The companies that make body bars with some actual soap in them, take out this glycerin and sell it to cosmetic companies. More money for them, less healthy skin for you. Commercial body cleansers also use artificial fragrances, they may be pleasing to the nose temporarily, but they can wreak havoc on your skin. Legally, these companies don’t even have to specify what they use to give their products their scent. Watch out for body bar ingredients that list “parfum” or “fragrance” on their labels. There’s no telling what they’re actually using.
