Can I get a little vulnerable for a minute?
Balance is hard. Don’t get me wrong, I dreamed about running my own skincare business for YEARS before it became a reality, and I still have countless “pinch-me” moments in between all the challenging ones. I’m so thankful for the opportunities I have to create and connect with you through something as intimate as what you put on your skin! 🥹🤎.
But here we are again; balance? It’s hard. I find myself often in a back-and-forth with liking and disliking social media spaces in general. It can be overwhelming: Am I sharing too much? Am I sharing too little? Do people even care? Is this taking away from my presence in the moment? Is it distracting me? (You get it.)
I keep coming back to: if you’re gonna be here in this space, you have to keep asking those questions. 😅 I like black and white. I like yes or no. I like “finished, “complete”: and that’s not what this space requires. So I’ll take the breaks, get quiet, and come back with renewed clarity. And then take another break. You can enjoy the journey without obsessing over the “arrival”. :) lol

It just didn’t make sense to me…
It was 2021, and tallow skincare was gaining popularity in the health/wellness/crunchy spaces. Sellers were offering 2oz jars for $40+ dollars, intended for facial care, frequently laden with essential oils that would irritate my skin I might add. I found myself with a burning question: If tallow is so great, why are we only using it on our FACE? Doesn’t the rest of our body deserve half decent, non-toxic-chemical-crud-free skincare too? I thought the answer was obvious so I started Cloud & Plain, where you can get an 8oz jar of high quality tallow skincare for your whole body….because bodies should get the good stuff too. 🤎 - Danielle

This hair oil is special to me, because it holds remembrance of the many hours I’ve spent caring for my daughter’s long, flowing, very fine and easily tangled hair. As she has gotten older, I’ve come to view our “spa time” together as very precious! I brush out her “wild little mane” and run this oil through her hair and the air fills with the delicious smell of pink grapefruit and calming cedar wood.

My daughter’s hair and mine have a completely different texture, but both her fine, silky wisps and my thick, course waves benefit from this oil. It’s a common misconception that fine/silky or medium hair doesn’t benefit from a hair oil! Marula oil in particular is nourishing to the hair without being heavy or sitting on top of the hair giving it a “greasy” appearance; which is the reason I chose it! I hope this simple offering holds a place for you to enjoy caring for your hair too: whether mother or maiden. 🤎 - Danielle
