Vietnamese New Year, also known as Tet or Tet Nguyen Dan, is the most significant holiday in Vietnamese culture, marking the beginning of the lunar new year. This year, Vietnamese New Year falls on January 29, 2025, and it is a national holiday in Vietnam.The celebration typically lasts for 7 to 9 days, with preparations starting several weeks before the actual date. Red and yellow are considered lucky colors, and homes are decorated with flowers, especially the yellow Hoàng Mai flower. Families clean their homes, prepare offerings for ancestors, and visit relatives. Children receive lucky money in red envelopes called “li xi”. It is customary to avoid discussing negative topics, arguing, or using profanity during the holiday.
