When I was a kid, my grandmother had this sitting in the hallway on the way to the bathroom, and it absolutely terrified me. It scared me so bad that I used to put a washcloth over its face so it could not look at me. That story has been part of our family for decades. When she moved from her home to a nursing facility, she gave it to me so I could carry that memory forward.

In the barber shop, there is a collection of Big Boys as a nod to her. She worked there when we were kids, and the moment she gave me the cat, I knew exactly where it belonged. My grandmother passed three weeks ago, and if you see the cat in the salon, give it a little pat on the head and help us pay homage to my Mamaw Nancy. We love her deeply and will miss her every single day, but pieces of her will live on forever, quietly welcoming people into both of my shops forever.

Happy Thanksgiving from our families to yours! We appreciate all the support from our community, friends, families and, most importantly, our clients!

We’re keeping the food drive going through next week. People have already stepped up big and we’ve collected a solid amount of donations, plus some cash that will let us pick up even more. It’s been awesome seeing everyone pitch in and help out.

If you want to drop off any canned goods or nonperishable items, you can bring them by the barber shop or the salon anytime. Every little bit helps and it all goes straight to families around our community.

Every year we do a food drive for Thanksgiving, this year is a little different. With the hold on snap benefits this coming November, we’d like to really ramp up giving back. If you have food to spare and would like to give to the cause please drop off any nonperishable iteams to either the barber shop or salon and help us help the community.

If you are on snap benefits and you’d like our help please feel free to reach out to me (Jacob) or Julie privately and we can set up a time for you to come get food from us. Please do not hesitate to ask for help because it’s our mission to help out our community always!
