But it isn’t. It absolutely isn't.

High school is a chapter.

The breakup is a chapter.
The mistake is a chapter.
This dark place is a chapter.

It is not the whole book.

There are friends you haven’t met yet.
There are places you haven’t seen yet.
There is love you haven't felt yet.
There are laughs you haven't laughed yet.
There are versions of yourself you haven’t grown into yet.
There are “best days of your life” that haven’t even happened yet.

Stay for those. Stay for a life you haven't even imagined yet.

The worst thing about being a teen is that everything feels final. Like this embarrassment will follow you forever, like this pain defines you. Like this is all there will ever be.

It’s not.

Ten years from now, your world will look completely different. Ten years from now, your brain will be more developed. The things crushing you today may not even exist anymore and if they do, you'll see them with a different set of eyes and a better set of emotional tools to deal with them.

You don’t have to love your life right now. You don't have to have it figured out. You don't even have to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You just need to trust that it's there.
