I officially broke up with “more pressure equals more benefit” bodywork after a session I had earlier this year with a practioker who was absolutely ruthless with his pressure ~ I no exaggeration asked him for less pressure over a dozen times, and he wouldn’t let up.

In over 5 years of practice, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned about helping people out of pain is that releasing muscle tension is a NUANCED NEGOTIATION with your client’s nervous system. You don’t need to work with max pressure to create effective change ~ you need to work with the RIGHT amount of pressure. This is one of the many concepts I’ll be breaking down in upcoming workshops, and my new online membership for bodyworkers with 50+ tutorials and videos.
