Your body isn’t wrong or incorrect. It’s certainly nothing to apologize for.

Bodies be bodying. They do things during massages like make sounds, move or just be hairy & exist. It’s ok to be human.

What a good Monday! I need to share my gratitudes because I love what I do, and the connections it brings me.

I traded services with . I got a lash lift and I’m in loveeeee. My eyes feel so twinkly! I haven’t worn make up regularly in an over a decade, so this feels real low maintenance & perfect for me.

Prior to that I received a massage from a client who recently completed massage school. What an honor to switch up the roles and be on the receiving end.

I love what I do. I know I said that already, but truly I can’t stress it enough. I haven’t actually felt like I’ve worked a job since starting down this path. Well, maybe while doing SOAP notes.

I realized a few months back that the reviews being left on my booking software aren’t transferring over to Google. I’ve gone back and forth with support to figure it out. No luck so far.

Last night, I had a major “DUH!”moment. It finally clicked that I could just edit the email template that goes out requesting a review. Definitely felt silly it took that long to make the connection. Don’t you love those kind of moments?

Anyway, I want to share some of the reviews that never made it to Google. If you’d like to go leave a Google review, I’d so appreciate it!

Mental illness is more common than we really realize. While I am a not a mental health professional, I am always encouraging folks to recognize the link between physical and mental health, as I see it show up on my table often.

Struggling with mental health increases the risk of chronic illness, lowers immune system function, can create digestive issues, and interrupt sleep patterns.

Swipe through for the ways I see mental health show up in the body

Here’s what my hands have been up to when away from the massage table.

I haven’t taken any form of art class since elementary school. When middle school came we had the choice between music or art. I picked music. My logic was that choir class couldn’t really have homework. I stuck with music classes until 10th grade, but my elementary level art skills are probably farrrrr better than my singing.

I’ve almost always surrounded myself with art and artists. I appreciate them so much. Lately, I decided to let myself give it a try. To let myself explore & know it doesn’t have to be so serious. Telling myself that yeah, I know some REALLY dope artists, but I don’t have to compare myself. I can just have fun. And I am.

Tempera paint pens & needle-felting have kept my hands busy. It is its own form of healing indeed.

The upper back holds so much, it tends to be a landing place for so much unconscious effort. Holding yourself upright, holding yourself together, even holding tension you never even got the chance to put down.

The rounding, the shrinking, the folding into self happens back here. Sometimes it goes unnoticed until it’s realllllly noticeable.

Something I see often in bodywork is that people don’t realize how much they’re bracing until someone gives them the chance to soften.

Now, I’m not saying there’s not a time for firm pressure and deep tissue work. I love to provide it.

However, sometimes tension comes from bracing that exists in the body. A firm touch can ease a tired or injured muscle, but it might further stress out a body that’s feeling guarded.

More pressure doesn’t always mean more release.

Support in my sessions might look like gentle holds, light stretching, shaking and rocking.

The body is political.

Our physical body shapes how the world views & responds to our humanity, thereby making damn near everything political.

If you don’t feel that, maybe you exist in a privileged body.
