Something most clients don’t realize about the extension industry: it is completely unregulated.
There is no governing body for human hair. No third party verifying sourcing claims. No required transparency about what’s actually in the bundle being installed on your head.
A huge portion of the low cost hair on the market is collected from hair brushes, salon floors, and drain plugs, then acid bathed and coated in silicone to look smooth and shiny when it leaves the factory. It looks beautiful for the first few washes. Then the coating wears off and the hair turns matted, dry, and straw textured.
This is the reason some installs look stunning day one and unrecognizable two months later. The hair was disguised. Not quality.
If your stylist can’t tell you exactly where her hair is sourced from… that’s your answer.

Today I’m teaching technique at IBE.
This is the part of my work most of my clients never see, but it’s directly connected to why their results look the way they do. The standard I hold in my chair is the same standard I’m teaching other stylists to hold in theirs.
If you’ve ever wondered why I’m so obsessed with method, weight distribution, and scalp health… this is part of the answer.

The hardest truth in this industry is that most bad installs aren’t coming from uncertified stylists.
They’re coming from stylists who got certified, called it done, and never picked up another piece of education again.
Certification is the floor, not the ceiling. And the women paying for these installs are the ones absorbing the cost of that mindset.
If you’re a stylist who already knows there’s another level, IBE Masters enrollment opens TOMORROW…
And trust me…there’s no better deal than this one.
She came to me a few months ago for extensions, but decided to go a different direction and got a full head of K-tips instead.
When she reached back out for another appointment, the first thing she said was, “I should’ve just come to you the first time.” 🥲
We ended up doing 24” and instead of overloading her hair with heavy weight in one area, we distributed everything throughout 3 different rows to prioritize balance, comfort, and her scalp health long term.
That’s the part people don’t always see with extensions. It’s not just about adding length. It’s about understanding density, weight distribution, and what your natural hair can actually support.
She left loving her hair so much and honestly… those moments mean everything to me. 🤍

People think extension consultations are just about getting a price quote.
But honestly, I learn more from how someone’s hair grows, sheds, and holds weight than I do from the inspiration photo itself.
Two women can both want 22” extensions and need completely different plans.
That’s why I don’t believe in copy and paste installs.
The consultation is where I’m looking at density, tension, texture, lifestyle, scalp health, and what your hair can realistically support long term.
Because the goal isn’t just pretty hair for the appointment.
It’s extensions that still feel good weeks later.
That grow out well.
That don’t have you constantly aware they’re in your head.
The planning process matters way more than people realize.

A beautiful install at the appointment doesn’t tell me much.
Almost anyone can pull that off in good lighting.
What I pay attention to is what her hair looks like weeks later…
How it’s growing. Whether the scalp is calm. Whether her real hair underneath is still as healthy as it was the day she sat down.
That’s the MOST important part.
