Hello to you all!

After many a cut, color and style, The Calico Beard & Mercantile will be closing its doors March 2, 2019. Our network of stylists and artists have truly enjoyed being a part of the picturesque Westside neighborhood. We have worked together over the years to cultivate an inspirational vibe we can send home with our clients, and we hope to continue to help spread to the outside, the beauty that lies within.

Our salon just turned 7, and the memories are bursting at the seams! The love, lessons and laughs will be cherished for years to come.

Genina Black Weaver is a Kansas City-based chef and cheese expert. She is originally from the Bay Area in Northern California. She started her culinary career for Cowgirl Creamery in Washington, D.C. where she served as a cheesemonger and fromagier. Since moving to Kansas City, she has been a cook at Lidia's specializing in rustic Italian comfort food, and the pastry chef at Novel Restaurant where she worked on new American versions of classic dishes. Currently she is doing private dinners and teaching classes with her business, Black and Bleu KC.
