Hi I’m Jess! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself. I’m 30 years old, engaged to the love of my life , and we have a tiny dog and giant cat! I’ve been doing hair and makeup for more than a decade. I started out in a Great Clips❤️ at first! Then worked as a face painter for kids parties and a wedding hair and makeup artist at a blowout bar on the plaza for more than 6 years. I spent every “off” day I had building the business I operate today-
What started as a one chair salon in my apartment and house, became a suite in the crossroads, which became a 12 chair salon, grew to become our 18 chair salon and barber collective in the West Bottoms.
My goal has always been to create a safe and comfortable place for my clients. When Wicked opened as a collective in 2018, Kansas City lacked a salon space that was q***r friendly, neurodivergent friendly, or environmentally friendly. I never walked into a salon where I felt I belonged or that aligned with my values. I had never felt encouraged to push boundaries and excel as an entrepreneur. It was this that led me to creating a space and becoming a salon owner- so I could create this environment for others in my community.
Currently I take clients a couple days a week in my suite inside and the rest of my work week in my office or on location. I offer color, cuts, perms, makeup, and event styling.
