Whether you get a solid all one color, add some highlights or lowlights or not ready/on the fence about going gray, what if I told you there’s a way to start embracing your natural hair SLOWLY and still have a beautiful color???

This is one of my dear clients that got the regular color retouch appointment every 5-6 weeks on the dot, never missed an appointment. It worked a while for her until it got to be too high maintenance with her lifestyle and she needed some much more low maintenance (I’m talking coming in every 8-10 weeks) and eventually something where she could stop getting color all together and fully embrace her gray. This is her hair after we made the transition to highlights & lowlights instead of all over color, there’s a few steps we needed to follow before this appointment could happen and here’s what we did…

1. Started gradually using a lighter color at her root each 6 week color retouch appointment (we did around 3-6 appointment of this)
*mutliple sessions of this are needed to ensure it’s not noticeable and you have less of a line of demarcation every time you start to see your gray hair pop back up

2. As shown in picture, preferably, having an inch or more of your natural gray grown out before your appointment to add highs and lows.
*I know the wait might be scary but having this little bit at the root will help your stylist be able to match your highlight and lowlights to your natural gray hair, being able to put in colors that will blend with your gray.

3. The best part about switching from color retouches to just highlights/lowlights is once you do it, you can already schedule your appointments further out and you won’t notice a harsh line growing out anymore.

Gray hair is BEAUTIFUL and it never NEEDS to be covered up, there are beautiful ways to blend and enhance your natural gray, whether you have the salt and pepper gray or solid white!

Just because you have dark hair doesn’t mean it has to be Carmel color/super warm …

My client here has naturally dark brown hair and while we wanted to still not be platinum blonde, we wanted it brighter than a Carmel/cinnamon brown look and I love the results!!
