This client came to us after having her lips tattooed by another artist here in Kansas City.

She was told to bring in her favorite lipstick shade so her artist could “match” it. The color she brought was a cool mauve pink.

The problem?
Lip blushing is NOT about copying lipstick colors. It’s about understanding color theory, undertones, healing behavior, and pigment composition.

This client naturally presented with very cold undertones.
The pigment used on her contained heavy cool bases, including blues, purples, carbon black, and white/iron oxide modifiers used to create that pale mauve tone.

When these tones are implanted into already cool lips, the healed result can become dark, ashy, gray, violet, or bruised looking over time.

And that is exactly what happened.

Her lips healed extremely dark and uneven, forcing her to wear deep lipstick daily just to feel comfortable leaving the house.

We have been correcting and neutralizing this work since 2024.

Today marked her FOURTH corrective session.

Through multiple rounds of careful neutralization and corrective lip blushing, we were finally able to break through the remaining dark saturation and restore softness, balance, and a healthy blush tone back into the lips.

Is it absolutely perfect? Not fully.
But it is light years beyond where she started.

Corrective work takes knowledge.
