🫢 My strength training time serves so many purposes.

πŸ’― It keeps my muscles strong, my bones dense and my metabolism high.

🚨 It makes me feel confident, gives me energy and helps my focus and creativity.

πŸ’― It serves as a time for both self-care and self-regulation - especially during this perimenopause season!

🚨 It is the key to my physical health as well as my mental and emotional health.

πŸ’― It's one of the greatest reasons that I really enjoy living in the body God gave me.

🚨 It's one way I'm able to be a good steward of the body God gave me. It's one way that I show love for God and for myself.

πŸ’― It is a huge key to keeping my immune system strong, and aids in disease prevention. ( I VERY rarely get sick)

🚨 It keeps young, slows down the aging process and allows me to keep living an incredibly active lifestyle.

πŸ’― It's key to my independence, I want to keep climbing mountains for decades to come. The weights are key for making that happen!

🚨 It's essential for me to be able to do all my other duties in life. If I didn't take care of my body, my mind and my emotions in this way, I simply wouldn't have the capacity to help others or to fulfill God's call on my life.

πŸ’― You will never hear me say I don't have time for this. Because the truth is, I simply can not afford the cost of not keeping my body and mind strong.

🚨 It's one huge key to navigating the hormonal changes of menopausal transitions with greater ease.

πŸ’― It's healing. God created a pharmacy in each of our bodies, the capacity to produce hope molecules and aid in healing from past trauma, toxic stress and repeated adversity.

🚨 These are the reasons it is a non-negotiable for me.

βœ…οΈ Its why I encourage it to be a non-negotiable for you. Your time, frequency, style or training volume may not look just like mind. That's ok. Doesn't have to be.

πŸ’ͺ Make the weights a part of your lifestyle. Even 2 days of the week can be a game changer for SO many aspects of your life.

I'm 48 years old. I lost 50 pounds. 20+ years later and it's still gone. Here's the truth about what I had to do. πŸ‘‡

I grew up uncomfortable in my own skin. Out of control in my body. My body story developed early and it was filled with shame.

For years, food became how my nervous system learned to cope. It was easy. It was accessible.

And it worked, until it didn't.

Every night, eating to numb the pain, the stress, the anxiety. The weight climbed fast. I was desperate. Something had to change.

So I got honest. I got brave. I took photos and measurements. I did a full audit of what I was actually putting in my body, not what I told myself I was eating. Those habits were hurting me and holding me at the same time.

I couldn't experience something new in my body until I understood what my body actually needed. The education shifted everything.

I built discipline. Even when I didn't feel like it. I stopped eating at night. I built habits and repeated them, slowly, deliberately, consistently, and the weight came off. For the first time I felt in control of my body. And that felt like everything.

I lost it slowly. That's why it stayed.

But then came maintenance. Old temptations started whispering again. There were moments I slipped back β€” and that's when I realized something important.

Discipline had managed the behavior. It hadn't healed the root.

White-knuckling it was never going to be enough. I had to go deeper. Into the trauma. Into the pain. Into the stories I'd believed about my body since I was a little girl.

He showed me my worth wasn't in the body I'd worked so hard to build. My identity had quietly attached itself to my physical self. And that's where He stepped in and rewrote what I believed about myself.

That is why I've sustained a 50 lb weight loss for 20 years. Not willpower. Healing. πŸ™

A few months ago I looked at the calendar and was like... okay. 50 is coming. And I just started asking myself β€” how do I want to feel when that day arrives?

Strong. That was my answer. Not a certain size. Just strong.

I truly believe our forties, fifties, and sixties are our mightiest seasons. We have walked so many paths, learned so much, lived so much. The enemy wants you to believe your strongest days are behind you. They're not.

Here's what's working for me β€”
βœ… 4 days of strength training a week with lower rep ranges β€” 6 to 8 reps β€” going heavier and challenging my muscles to keep adapting and growing

βœ… Training harder on my high energy days and giving myself full grace on the harder ones

βœ… Plenty of rest and recovery because that's actually where the strength is built

βœ… Prioritizing sleep as non negotiable β€” training heavier means my body needs more time to repair and rebuild

βœ… Hitting my protein consistently every single day to support muscle growth and recovery

And every session is doing something in my spirit too. I think clearer. I pray bolder. I want to be strong for my calling β€” and I want you to know you can be too.

16 months to go. Already building. Just getting started. πŸ”₯
If this is your mightiest season too β€” let me hear you. πŸ‘‡πŸ”₯

Over 40 and proof that it's possible. πŸ”₯

The cycle of losing and regaining isn't a discipline problem. For most people it's rooted in patterns, stories, and sticking points that no meal plan has ever touched. That's exactly where the Hitch Fit Summer Transformation challenge goes.

I have spent 17+ years helping people break through what's actually been holding them back β€” and this challenge brings that same depth into a 12-week group format for the very first time.

Workouts for home or gym. Full nutrition and macro guidance. Mindset work. A prep phase that sets you up before May 11 even arrives. And a community of people who actually get it.

The first 100 to sign up get an exclusive bonus bundle β€” including a private Q&A coaching call, 60 fat-burning recipes, the Mindset Breakthrough Guide, Fat Loss Success Blueprint, and the Healthy Habits System.
Spots are limited. May 11 is coming fast.

Listen, you don't need to announce your entire health journey to Aunt Jane at the dessert table. πŸ™„πŸ°

Here's what to say when you want to honor your goals WITHOUT the awkward conversation:

βœ… "No thank you" (full sentence, queen πŸ‘‘)
βœ… "I don't want any" (no explanation needed 🚫)
βœ… "I don't like that" (even if you do - boundaries! πŸ’ͺ)
βœ… "I'm not hungry" (trust your body 🧠)
βœ… "I already ate" (and it was delicious πŸ˜‹)

What NOT to say:
❌ "I'm on a diet"
❌ "I can't eat that"
❌ "I'm losing weight"
❌ "That doesn't fit my macros"

Here's the truth: When you announce you're dieting, people suddenly become food pushers. πŸͺ🍷

It's like they take it as a personal challenge to make you break your goals.

The phrase "No thank you, I couldn't eat another bite. Everything tasted wonderful" (Sharp HealthCare) works beautifully when delivered with confidence and a smile. 😊

Or my personal favorite, "No thanks I don't like that." ( made with an ick face this works every time!) 🀒

You don't owe anyone an explanation for taking care of your body. Your boundaries are YOURS to set. πŸ›‘οΈ

At 48, navigating perimenopause, I've learned that protecting my peace and my progress is an act of self-love, not selfishness. ❀️

The people who truly love you will respect your choices. The ones who don't? That's their issue, not yours. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Practice these phrases in the mirror if you need to. Say them with kindness but firmness. And remember - you're not being rude, you're being clear. πŸ’Ž

Which phrase will you use this holiday season? Drop it in the comments πŸ‘‡

P.S. - If someone KEEPS pushing after you've said no, a simple "I said no thank you" with direct eye contact works wonders. Try it. πŸ˜‰
