I had to say goodbye to a chapter of my life that has meant so much to me. Due to restructuring at the college, my co-teacher and I were let go. Even though I understand this decision was not personal, it doesn’t make the loss hurt any less.
Teaching esthetics shaped me in ways I never expected. It gave me purpose, confidence, and a deeper belief in myself. It challenged me and helped me grow not only as an esthetician, but as a leader, mentor, and person.
This role became such a huge part of my identity. I loved pouring into my students, sharing knowledge, and watching them grow in confidence and skill. I truly loved being Ms. J. That role meant so much more to me than I can even put into words. I felt so deeply connected to my students, and I’m incredibly grateful for the impact they had on me just as much as I hope I impacted them. Over the years, I’ve received so many cards and messages from students that brought me so much joy. Those words meant everything to me. They reminded me that what I was doing mattered, and they changed my life. I think what breaks my heart the most is knowing how much of myself I poured into this role. I always wanted them to have the best possible experience in esthetics school. I wanted them to leave feeling confident, prepared, and truly ready to succeed. Teaching validated parts of me that I have struggled with throughout my career, especially confidence. I am incredibly grateful to Mrs. Mullins Chris Mullins for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. These last three years have been so special to me, and I will always be thankful for the trust she placed in me. Her support and belief in me have meant more than she probably knows. I’m heartbroken. But I also know that losing a position does not mean losing the gifts it helped reveal. Sometimes it’s hard to understand God’s plan. We are not always meant to understand His plan; we are called to trust Him. I have to believe He is working in ways I cannot yet see. I’m incredibly grateful for every student, every lesson, every challenge, and every moment that shaped me. I’m hopeful this is not the end of my teaching journey. Thank you for loving Ms. J ❤️‍🩹
