Starting now (and continuing for the foreseeable future), I’ll be collecting non-perishable and shelf-stable items to donate to a local resource in Knoxville. (I’m still searching for different resources, but once I find the one, I’ll update.)
As a thank-you for your generosity and kindness in these hard times, anyone who brings in 2 or more donation items will receive $10 off their service.
With the ongoing government shutdown, around 690,000 Tennesseans (about 1 in 10 residents) are at risk of losing access to SNAP benefits and EBT starting November 1st. These donations will directly help those affected in our community, as well as those currently experiencing houselessness.
Most needed items include:
• Shelf-stable foods like rice, instant mashed potatoes, oats, and oatmeal
• Canned goods such as soups, meats, fruits, tuna, and vegetables (pop tabs or cans that don’t require an opener are especially helpful)
• Ready-to-eat items like crackers, protein bars, and similar snacks
• Peanut butter, jelly, and shelf-stable milk or milk alternatives
• Pasta, pasta sauce, and boxed meals (mac and cheese, instant noodles, etc.)
• Breakfast items like cereal, granola, and pancake mix
• Canned or packaged beans, chili, and stews
• Baby items such as formula, baby food, and diapers (all sizes)
