ART BIOGRAPHY - Jenifer Broomberg

I’ve been drawing and painting since the age of 5. I was born and grew up in South Africa.
My first teacher as a child was my aunt who was an artist and painted with oils, and taught me the fundamentals of painting.
I moved to the United States at 22 and began receiving formal training in art.
I attended the the University of Houston and worked towards an art degree and also
the Glassel School of Art.
I took classes in watercolor with the well known watercolor artist, Marge Brichler and really loved the loose fresh techniques of watercolor and started producing watercolors to sell.
At that time I painted mainly watercolors of the African people as well as African wild animals.

I moved to California about 8 years after immigrating and decided to concentrate on oil painting.
I also studied sculpture with the well known Egyptian painter and sculptor Maher Morcus in La Jolla who influenced my style of sculpture and painting - romantic/erotic.
I was represented by 3 galleries in La Jolla and downtown San Diego.
I had exhibitions and sold my art.
I began teaching art at the Atheneum School of Art and Music in La Jolla as well as in my private studio and taught the techniques of art to adults and teens for several years and held exhibitions for my students.
I was fascinated by digital art created in Photoshop and taught myself Photoshop and joined a Digital Artists Group who met regularly in La Jolla. We had exhibitions and I printed and framed and sold several pieces.
That influenced me to paint my digital images on canvas and intend to still pursue that.
My favorite medium is oil painting because the images can be moulded like sculpture and I’m drawn to strong contrasts in light and dark. My favorite subject is the human being and I try to depict strong emotion in my paintings.
I studied Opera and joined the Small Opera of San Diego and opened a gallery in the opera company building. We produced and held Art and Opera exhibitions/performances every year which were very popular and drew audiences of upto 800 guests.
I am still painting but envision slightly changing my style of oil paintings to include decorative elements and surrealism but keeping and depicting strong human emotion.

I have opened my The Artist's Touch Permanent Makeup and Micropigmentation studio again in La Jolla and I am offering many procedures including Microblading and shading for eyebrows, lip pigmentation, eyeliner - conservative and dramatic (wings).
Also Medical Micropigmentation eg:
Replacing the AR**LA and ni**le for Mastectomy patients,
Scar Revision and Camouflage for scars eg. Facelift scars and stretch marks. Lip “reconstruction” for cleft palate patients. We also offer Collagen Induction Therapy for the face, neck, chest and hands
