Most of you know by now that Governor Ricketts has announced that salons can open May 4th with strict guidelines.

I wanted to wait until the guidelines for reopening had been established, those should be released later today the 27th, but at this time I have no plans to open May 4th. The information just doesn’t line up.

It’s tough to make a decision, especially when there isn’t really a right answer. For me, I cannot put you or myself at risk if it isn’t necessary. Nebraska cases are still increasing, and no, that’s not just because they’re testing more people, hospitalization is increasing. Sheltering in place will not rid us of this virus completely, we’re past that option. Now, it’s flattening the curve and keeping it that way so hopefully the virus will eventually wither out. Some say there’s no herd immunity with this virus so exposing and recovering does not protect you. There is just too much we don’t know about Covid yet.

A lot of salons will be opening on the 4th and a lot of people will be going back to work. A lot because they feel they have to: they don’t have any income, aren’t getting assistance but still have bills that don’t stop, and that’s ok. Everyone has to make the best decisions for themselves.

If I can stay home to help stop exposure then that’s what I am going to do. Our family is fine financially right now. Will my business be ok? For now, yes. The long term? I’m not sure. I’m willing to take that risk right now, though.

Most of you have been with me around five to seven years. I know you in depth, your significant others, your parents, your children, and you know mine. You are like family to me and if you or your family became sick I would be devastated. So, for now, I will choose to stay home. I have tentatively planned to open June 1st if things go well. If things go better than planned I might adjust and open closer to the end of May, if not it might be later in the summer.

This has been a long post so I’ll end with this: I love you all and I cannot wait to see you and hold your hands again! Until then, if you need anything feel free to text, call, FaceTime, whatever. I know most times our appointments aren’t just about having your nails done... so if you need a vent session I’m still here. ❤️ Just one of the many services I offer 😂😉🤗

In response to COVID-19.

Since working from home is not an option, I will continue to service clients as long as possible. During this time I ask for your assistance in providing a safe and clean environment.

Please, if you have: traveled recently, feel unwell, or have a fever reach out to reschedule. I am happy to accommodate you in any way I can. I also ask that you do not bring friends or children with you to your appointment. When you arrive please put all items away before washing and sanitizing hands; this includes your phone. If we are doing nail art please discuss it before your appointment.

Cleanliness, sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization are always taken seriously. I use disposable products as much as possible and always follow cleaning solution instructions. Soap and hand sanitizer are always available in the salon to guests at all times.

In addition to these things I will be disinfecting high contact surfaces throughout the salon in between clients during the day.

Times are challenging for everyone currently. Being a business owner is difficult; especially in these times. Many small business owner may go under in the next few months. If possible, please shop those markets. Walmart, Target, and other large corporations don’t need you to to stay alive.
