⚠️ Clients⚠️ this is an update for what's happening to our back parking lot. It looks like next week it'll be limited parking. Then the week after that, it will be closed. Please allow a little extra time for parking and/or walking. Thank you very much and we apologize for the inconvenience! ❤️
🚧 Downtown Lapeer Construction Update 🚧
Progress is moving fast—and even a little ahead of schedule.
Here’s what to expect over the next couple of weeks:
▪️ Park Street will fully close later this week as crews begin milling and continue underground infrastructure work
▪️ Parking Lot #9 - The Large lot on the north side of Nepessing Street behind TheDoghouse.Coffee; Sam's Coney Island & Family Restaurant, Rogers Pharmacy, and New To You Consignment will have partial closures starting next week (week of April 13) for dumpster enclosure construction (dumpsters moving to Mason & Court)
▪️ Full closure of Parking Lot #9 is now expected the week of April 20 as major reconstruction begins
A quick but important reminder:
Customer parking along Nepessing Street must remain available for visitors.
If you’re a business owner, employee, or property owner—please park in designated long-term areas.
Yes, it means a longer walk.
But it also means your customers—and your neighbors’ customers—can access downtown businesses.
We know construction brings some challenges—but this project is a major investment in the future of Historic Downtown Lapeer.
Downtown is OPEN. Shops are OPEN. Restaurants are OPEN.
Let’s continue to support local and show up for our downtown businesses. ❤️

***COPIED FROM HISTORIC DOWNTOWN LAPEER FACEBOOK PAGE****
If you've been downtown this week you've likely seen the start of construction on Pine Street. This part of a multi-phase construction project downtown that includes Pine Street, Park Street, and the large parking lot on the north side of Nepessing Street.
What doe that look like? What's the Big Picture?
These projects are a long-term investment in the future of downtown and will deliver meaningful improvements across several key areas:
*Pine Street (Work has already begun)
Reconstruction will include updated underground infrastructure, new curbing, and a fully rebuilt and repaved street between Nepessing Street and Oregon Street.
*Park Street (Work will begin in early April)
Park Street will be converted to a two-way roadway between Saginaw Street and Mason Street. This project also includes infrastructure upgrades, new curbing, and improved lighting—making the street safer, more accessible, and easier to navigate.
*Parking Lot #9 - Large Lot on the north side of Nepessing St.
(Work will begin in begin in early May)
The parking lot will be fully reconstructed with updated infrastructure, improved drainage, and a more efficient parking layout and traffic flow. The project also includes new dumpster enclosures, improved alley access, enhanced pedestrian safety, increased accessibility, and added green space.
**Downtown is OPEN. Your favorite businesses are OPEN.**
We've attached a parking map below so that you can start planning your trips and your visits to your favorite businesses now. Remember, the parking lot work does not start until early/Mid May.
Once the parking lot work begins, we know parking will be a bit tighter, but there are still plenty of places to park, plus new **15-minute spots** for quick stops!
Every visit makes a difference during construction. So shop at your favorite business, grab some lunch or dinner. Get a cup of coffee, have a fun night out, take a stay-cation in your home town and enjoy all of your favorite local spots.
This is temporary.
What we’re building is long-term.
**We’ll see you downtown.**
