Big Changes Are Coming to Historic Downtown Lapeer

Starting this week and over the next few months, you’ll start to see construction taking place in Historic Downtown Lapeer as we make important upgrades to our streets, infrastructure, and public spaces. This week you will see work beginning on Pine Street between Nepessing Street and Oregon Street.

We’ll be honest—there will be some temporary inconveniences. You may have to walk a little farther, adjust where you park, or navigate around construction zones.

But here’s the bigger picture…This project is an investment in our future. Safer streets. Better accessibility. Improved public spaces. A stronger, more vibrant downtown for years to come.

And right now, our small businesses need us more than ever. Every coffee you grab, Every meal you enjoy, Every item you shop local…it all makes a difference.

These businesses are the heart of our community. They show up for us every day this is our chance to show up for them.

So during construction, we’re asking you to:
Keep coming downtown
Be patient and flexible
Choose local whenever you can

Because together, we don’t just get through this—we come out stronger on the other side.
