I almost died in the ocean with my son 💔

With so many heartbreaking stories of children drowning this summer, it’s brought all that trauma back.

Years ago, Tristan was on his boogie board when a powerful current came out of nowhere.

He got swept out fast. I swam after him with everything I had. But the ocean pulled harder.

He was slipping further away, and I was being dragged in the opposite direction. I couldn’t reach him. And I couldn’t save myself either.

I truly thought that was the end.

But two surfers showed up, complete strangers, and risked their lives to bring us back to shore.

They saved both of us.

That moment has never left me.

I don’t talk about it often because it was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life.

Seeing so many families experience the pain of losing a child to drowning this summer breaks my heart. Please don’t take water safety lightly. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, a river, or a swimming pool, stay alert, stay present, and keep a close eye on your children. Tragedy doesn’t send a warning.

Listen to me… life can shift in a second.

We are not in control like we think we are.

So love deeper. Be more present. Put the phone down. Make the memories. And don’t you dare take the people in your life for granted.
