PLEASE READ. I AM ADVOCATING FOR MY BROTHER’S LIFE.
My brother, Joseph Hunter, has been incarcerated in Ohio for 13 years on a 32-year sentence.
During his incarceration, he has endured severe abuse and life-threatening neglect at the hands of those entrusted to protect him. At one point, my brother was handcuffed by correctional officers while other inmates were allowed to stab him, nearly taking his life. He survived—but that moment changed everything.
In March 2025, another incident involving my brother and a correctional officer occurred and was caught on video. In the video, my brother can be seen being provoked, denied help, and attacked while begging to be heard. He was not the aggressor.
That video was leaked to the public in February 2026 and has now reached over 10 million views, exposing what so many incarcerated people experience behind closed doors.
Instead of accountability, my brother was met with retaliation.
After the video went viral, he was suddenly charged with a minor infraction and placed in segregation (“the hole”). While there, he has been subjected to inhumane conditions, including: • Extended isolation (6 Months)
• Loss of privileges
• Being limited to one pair of socks and one pair of underwear no toothbrush paste or hygiene
When I contacted the warden, I was told his privileges had not been taken—yet the conditions my brother is living under tell a very different story.
Let me be clear:
This is not about excusing wrongdoing.
This is about retaliation, abuse of power, and systemic silence after misconduct was exposed.
My brother is serving his sentence—but a sentence is not a death wish.
Incarcerated people still have human and constitutional rights.
No one deserves to be brutalized, silenced, or punished for the truth being seen.
I am asking for help, visibility, and accountability.
